CHAPTER ONE: Breezepaw shifted uncomfortably in his nest. "You okay?" Frostpaw's voice startled him. "Yeah I'm good." He assured her. "I just can't sleep." "I can't either." She meowed back. "Why don't we take a walk." She stood up and stretched. Her white and silvery grey patched fur practically sparkled in the moonlight filtering through the branches of the apprentice den. Breezepaw stood up excitedly. "I'd love that!" The two apprentices stepped over the other apprentices, careful not to wake them. Once out of the den, Frostpaw turned to Breezepaw. "You worried about tomorrow?" "Yeah..." Breezepaw admitted. He was becoming a Warrior tomorrow as long as he passed his assessment but he was worried. His mentor wasn't the easiest to put up with and he struggled most of his apprenticeship to deal with her. She was bossy and rude and because she was the leader's sister, she thought she had authority. She was the type of cat to fail a cat's assessment just because she didn't like them. Frostpaw snapped Breezepaw's thoughts back to reality when she brushed his shoulder with her tail. "It will be ok." She purred. Breezepaw sighed, "Yeah you're probably right." "I know," Frostpaw laughed. She brushed her tail against Breezepaw one last time before starting to trot towards the camp entrance and towards the forest. "What are you two doing?" A voice sounded beside Breezepaw. He looked over and saw two clanmates guarding camp. One of them was leaning against the camp wall, fast asleep. The other was questioning the two apprentices. "We're taking a walk." Breezepaw explained. "Neither of us could sleep." "Alright, but I'm not responsible if your mentors find out." The guard said and went to sit back down with the sleeping cat. "Thank you Couldwhisker!" Frostpaw called behind us. Breezepaw and Frostpaw ran into the forest, away from camp and towards the lake. In just a few minutes they reached it. The almost leafbare night air was cold. Breezepaw fluffed out his fur. Frostpaw sat beside him and wrapped her tail around her paws. "It's cold." She shivered. Breezepaw shuffled closer to her and pressed his flank against hers. Frostpaw stopped shivering. "I can't wait until we're both warriors." She breathed. Breezepaw opened his mouth to respond but a piercing screech cut him off. Frostpaw and Breezepaw whipped around to face the forest. "We need to go help!" Frostpaw said urgently before taking off into the trees. Breezepaw was at her heels, keeping up the entire way until they reached a clearing. In the middle of the clearing, there was a hole. It looked like the ground caved in on itself and there was a cat inside. A cat stood next to the sinkhole who looked to be about the age of a young apprentice. Breezepaw carefully stepped forward. "Are you ok...?" He asked the cat. She nodded tearfully then managed to speak between her sobs. "That kitten- It- It was alone- I wanted to help it by bringing- bringing it to you clan cats-" Breezepaw looked down into the hole and saw a tiny kit that could not have been more than a week old. "How did it end up down there?" He questioned as he lowered himself to the ground and slowly crept toward the hole. "I was carrying it- Then the ground caved in- I'm sorry- sorry, I slipped and the kit fell-" The cat sobbed. Frostpaw rushed around the hole and over to the cat, comforting her. Breezepaw reached the edge of the hole. "Please be careful, Breezepaw." Frostpaw pleaded. "I will." He assured her. CRACK The ground caved in underneath Breezepaw's weight and he plunged down into darkness. Not even moonlight shone in there. He was buried in a pile of rubble, but managed to free himself. "BREEZEPAW" Frostpaw cired. "I'm ok," He coughed. Then he started to search for the kit. After a few seconds, he found the motionless kit laying in the piles of rubble. She had pale brown fur and green eyes. Breezepaw carefully grabbed the kit by the scruff on her neck and looked up to he hole above his head. It was about the height of a full grown oak tree. "Breezepaw, how are you going to get out?" Frostpaw asked worriedly. "I don't know but I'll figure it out." "Oka- WATCH OUT-" Frostpaw called as more ground caved in, this time bringing trees with it. Breezepaw ran to dodge the tree but couldn't make it in time. He wrapped his body around the kit to shield it from the falling tree. As the tree hit the ground, pain shot through Breezepaw's entire body. When he opened his eyes again, he was in StarClan.
CHAPTER TWO: Breezepaw looked around to see shimmering trees and glittering blades of dewy grass. Around him, semi-transparent cats wandered the glowing forest. "Hello Breezepaw." A voice said. He spun around looking for the voice and saw an almost fully transparent cat staring at him. "I'm Rosefur. I need to tell you something important." She said urgently. "So, I'm not dead...?" Breezepaw asked cautiously. "No, not yet." Rosefur smiled. "But I need to tell you that your leader is going to say you failed your assessment. That is a lie but no one is going to challenge his authority." "Oh..." "I wasn't going to bring you here originally but now that you saved the kit I have some stuff to tell you. The first thing is I am giving you your warrior name. Tomorrow when they announce you failed your assessment, announce that you were given a name and I will send a sign." "Okay," Breezepaw said, still unsure if he was dreaming or dead. "From here on out until you become the leader of StreamClan, you will be known as Breezeberry." The cat touched her nose to Breezepaw's. He pulled away. "Wait, you said until I become the leader?" "Yes, that is one of the other things I must tell you. You are destined to become the leader. Your clan is corrupted and StarClan has chosen you to save it. That kit you saved will also play a large role." Rosefur meowed. "Convince your clan to let her join." "O-Okay..." Breezeberry nodded. Rosefur touched her nose to Breezeberry's shoulder and StarClan began to disappear. When ee opened his eyes again, he was back in the hole. Underneath him, the kit was breathing. He let out a sigh of relief but as he went to stand he realized that his tail was wedged under a large rock. ~ Several hours later, Breezeberry was sitting in the medicine den while the medicine cat tended to him and the kit. He had lost his tail in the accident and he was covered in scratches but other than that he was ok. The kit was ok too. Her fall wasn't very far since the cat fell with her. She just wasn't able to climb out like the other cat was. No one in the clan wanted her though. "Do you think Pinescar would take care of her?" Breezeberry asked the medicine cat. "Probably not." He said bluntly. "No one wants to adopt it." Breezepaw glared at the medicine cat, but the leader called a meeting so he didn't lecture him. "I've called you all here for the Warrior ceremony of Frostpaw." Cheers drowned out the rest of the speech as Frostpaw stepped forward. She looked worried and she turned to face Breezeberry. Her apologies were also drowned out. She received the name Froststorm. The cats cheered her name and when it died down, Breezeberry stepped forward. "Last night, Starclan told me that my assessment was wrongly failed and they gave me my Warrior name. I am now called Breezeberry." The crowd was silent. Then, the medicine cat growled. "It's true. I received a vision." He looked unhappy. "The second thing they told me is that the kit I rescued needs to join our clan. Is there anyone willing to adopt it?" No one spoke. Then, Froststorm ran over to Breezeberry. "We talked about becoming mates and having kits when we became warriors." She purred. "Why don't we adopt her." Breezeberry laid his head on hers. "I'd love to." Breezeberry and Froststorm whispered between the two of them for a second before Froststorm ran to the medicine den and came back holding the kit. Breezeberry spoke. "We have decided to call her Smallkit." Then, Froststorm's mother stepped forward. "I have a litter of kits right now, so I can nurse her." "Thank you mother," Froststorm purred. "I'll be joining you in the nursery to help take care of her." ~ After the meeting cleared, Froststorm and Breezeberry laid purring with Smallkit nestled between them. "I love you." Breezeberry purred. "I love you too." Froststorm replied. End of chapter two~ Hello! I love writing but I dont think many people on scratch know that I dont only make comics!
