Cherry Blossom ; “The Loss of Hope” Gloamingveil ; “The Loss of …” (tbd) Reminisce ; “The Loss of Community” Mem represents the magician and ruler archetypes. In pop culture, the magician often represents transformation and manifestation. They are even said to exist in a different spiritual plane, but that does not apply to Memory. The magician is also said to have knowledge and insight that they are willing to share. Due to her apathy towards death, a trait that developed in her during childhood, Mems often encourages others to live their life without burden. While Reminisce was trained in kithood and apprenticeship, Memory spent her days making mudcakes and building treehouses. She had never felt freer. The ruler archetype represents a need to maintain control and order, with a fear of falling into chaos. Later in her life, Mem developed a need to look normal. To hide her differing beliefs and to hold a control over her life. Both the magician and ruler want to help people and seek power, but they go about it in different ways. The ruler has fears of losing control over others. She is responsible and she needs to keep things orderly. The magician is obsessive and has a fear of losing control over herself. She has a need to be selfless and helpful, but often falls into self-centered behaviors and wild thoughts. Like the ruler, Memory tries her best to be responsible. She cares about what others think of her and she desperately wants social power. Without control over others, she feels as though she loses her status. And that can’t do. Like the magician, Mem is wise. She knows her insecurities surrounding control drag her behind. But she just can’t seem to let them go. Encouraging others to leave their social structures behind and become one with their carefree selves, Mem doesn’t exactly practice what she preaches. She tries to seem like the version of herself she shows, her all-knowing and intuitive self. Unfortunately, it’s just a facade. The magician and ruler archetypes combined produce a character with a need for control / strategies and an ability to manifest and transform. She can separate herself from the present and plan for the future that she desires. That is how she changed the perception of her (or the one she believed others saw) and became obsessed with controlling it. Spiritual beliefs ;
