Sooo I meant to publish / make this on like Monday but scratch was having this rlly weird glitch where costumes just. would not save. Also then I kinda forgot to write up the description so here we are!!!! OK YIPPEE First project on this account where I get to loredump we win!!!! Before I do that though, I’ll just talk about the actual art, starting with the main one / the fullbody!! I really like how this piece out honestly! Originally it was meant to feature only the n24swd flag / the bandana one (since n24 has been. very mean to me as of late and I wanted to draw something featuring the flag and Duskshatter also has n24 so thought I’d draw her with it), but as time went on I just added more flags, and then even MORE because of recent Duskshatter lore developments, which is how we’ve ended up with the total flag count of like. 10. It’s in character for her though I feel like Dusk would very much collect items that feature any of her flags, both when it comes to queerness and disability GRKFHDKSKD Aaand there’s also the sketched busts! Fun fact I made this immediately after doing the sketch for the head of the full since as I was drawing Duskshatter’s expression I had the thought of ‘wait. What if I model her smile after a mix of Bramble and Cricket’s.’ So because of that I decided to do some expression studies for her!! Also I did all of them in the car because traffic was so bad I could draw without my hand going all over the place OK Art out of the way time for lore because I heart yapping out my animals. If you’ve seen projects of mine such as art dumps before then you might recognize Duskshatter or her name, and for good reason too! Long story short she’s the daughter of Bramblemask, which ALSO means she’s Cricketcry’s (step)daughter, and if you saw her and went ‘oh yeah that makes sense’ then believe me you would be forgiven for thinking they’re related by blood because the exact same misconception happens in-universe too. It is very funny though I barely even planned on Cricket and Dusk looking super similar but I’m rolling with it Duskshatter has a LOT going on with her, especially character arc-wise, but the jist of her lore (after arc 6 at least) is that she kiiind of watches her parent be smited before her eyes and then learns that she’s been being lied to about her father’s mortality for the past like 5 months (he’s been off the census this whole time), and that jumpstarts her career in murder how fun!!!!! She begins to go after cats who she believed to have ‘wronged her family’, but key word there is ‘believed’ since she is a VERY unreliable narrator with a bit of a superiority complex but again extremely long story that would take me a solid 6 paragraphs to deconstruct In the end she gets murked by Clementinecloud as she’s attempting to kill Corvidrise (the current Supreme aka warrior cat president), who I should probably mention is her GIRLFRIEND too. Yeah ummmm things got!!!! Kinda messy!!! After her death Duskshatter gets sent to the Below / cat hell, in which she connects back with Cricketcry (who is down there too because cat god in afc is ALSO an extremely unreliable narrator) but prior to her going to the Below they only thought that she murked one cat, that being Witherscorch / her bio mother that she ended up disowning, which Cricketcry DID kind of excuse (because even though they’re fairly redeemed that does not mean they aren’t subject to wanting revenge on cats who hurt either them or those they care about!!). Buuut then they learned about all the other murders and just. distanced themself from Dusk. Bad times for both of them I’ll be real After that not much happens with Duskshatter in all honesty!! She was originally meant to play a role in arc 8 / the arc right after arc 7 (aka the arc that most of this lore took place in), but I think I’m scrapping that storyline. She may do some stuff in the arc 11 / afc finale but we will see!!!! Overall though I love Duskshatter she’s very interesting to me and I like to psychoanalyze her like I do with all my other messed up critters
