.. no turning back .. .. a(nother) piece dtae .. art: 1. full drawing!! i'm actually really proud of this! yay! try to find all of the references hidden in the background level impossible 2. another version of the above, with a different combo of shading & lighting! I tried to make the values in this drawing pop, sense that's something that I need to work on, and if you look at this drawing in grayscale, it looks pretty good! 3. just another version of the first two, but with basic shading and less/no overlays. this one looks either the worst or the best in greyscale and I can't decide :3 .. lore.... so uh. i'm just gonna yap because!! why not trigger warning for death, betrayal, and overall darker themes (nothing too bad though) don't read further if you aren't comfortable with those topics!! - name: vellichor arroyo, vel or velli to close friends - pronouns: he/him but any pronouns work! he wouldn't really care - 100% villain monologue-er (the speaker of villain monologues) - started out as a wealthy newspaper owner. he had friends in the city, friends in his company, and a good life. - slowly, he realized that something was up. his newspaper was being overrun by someone, someone who stuck to the shadows. he tried to investigate, hiring a detective to help him on the case. - the detective and vellichor work together, unearthing a huge underground crime ring that was trying to take over the city. - vel takes to the press, publishing a report on what they had found. the detective, after trying to convince vellichor not to publish, goes to the crime boss and turns velli in. no one believes his paper is telling the truth, and the public thinks that vellichor is doing this for attention. - vellichor arroyo, age 24, is found dead in the street, compliments of the detective and the crime boss. - unknowingly, vellichor had a backup plan. just before his death, he started to get more paranoid, almost as if he'd known this was coming. he finally found a way to defy death, even at a horrible cost. - if when he died, he had a specific bottle of ink on him, he would be able to return. sure, he would have to kill a cat every three months to keep himself alive, but anything was better than letting the bad guys win. but who was the real villain now? - after years spent in limbo, not fully alive, not fully dead, vellichor gained enough power to come back to the living. only this time, he'd made a deal. he could live for exactly 10 more years, not a day over. anything else, and he'd be eternally punished in the limbo he was stuck in for so long. - when he returned, his main goal was to get revenge. revenge on the detective who betrayed him, revenge on the crime boss who killed him, revenge on the world for not believing his paper. - he becomes a sort of vigilante, 'saving' the world in his eyes. he's just causing more damage. - morally grey, started out good and slowly got less good - yeah! that's like a basic overview, but he's the second one in this world !! (the detective has a design but it was made before this story) - thorns, ravens, ink, marigolds, and withered roses for symbolism!! yay - the thing that he found that keeps him alive is the ink bottle around his neck, so naturally he keeps it close. - side effects of the anti-death thing make it so he slowly turns into ink! hence why vellichor's limbs are made of ink - vel's personality needs to be fleshed out more, but i'm already over the due date : / - and that's it! his story would definitely evolve, and I'd add more characters to reflect that - those are my ideas/concepts! yayayay!!
