This is the third part of a story I did for @Comicpaw2025 https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1173182919 Lillyfeather looked up at the tall bright yellow fence at the edge of the twoleg place. She would need to need to need to make the journey over to reach the catmint. "You ready?" Lillyfeather nodded to Cindercloud. Hollowstar didn't want her to go off into unknown territory without a warrior. "Yup." The silver tom replied. Lillyfeateher hunched her back legs and leaped up onto the fence, with Cindercloud following. She almost slipped on the light frost covering the tops of it. "Now, let's stay on the fence until we see a twoleg garden with catmint in it and I can sneak in and grab it." Lillyfeather mewed. "Okay, l just hope we don't run into any kittypets." Cindercloud wobbled on the fence, trying to find balance. "We'll be fine, kittypets are the opposite of warriors. We should be able to take the catmint and get out of here without them interfering." Lillyfeather padded along the sturdy wood looking into the twoleg gardens. "I don't know, I heard stories about kittypets attacking patrols." "Lets just get out of here quick." Lillyfeather admited that kittypets could be an obstacle, but didn't think they would come out in this cold. She just wanted to make sure they had enough catmint to last through leafbare. 'Newleaf will never come again' Lillyfeather remembered, and tried to push it out of her mind. "I think I see some." Cindercloud's comment broke her thoughts. "Oh yes! That's it." Lillyfeather spotted the faded stalks among other twoleg plants and rubbish. She carefully crept down into the garden and approached the herb. Getting closer, she realized most of it was dead, but there was still some alive at the corner of the pot. Lillyfeateher took what was left, a climbed back up on the fence with Cindercloud. "Now lets get out of here." She mewed, leaping back down into the forest. Lillyfeather walked into the camp carrying the catmint from the twoleg place. Cindercloud went off to talk to the other warriors. "Lillyfeather! Lillyfeather!" Silverpaw bounced up to her. "What is it? Is something wrong?" Lillyfeather meowed, dropping her bundle. "Berrystream is in our camp!" Berrystream?! The Riverclan medicine cat? "Why would Berrystream be here?" Lillyfeather asked. "I don't know, she's in your den." The gray apprentice nodded towards the rocky entrance of were the herbs were stored. "I'll see what she needs." Lillyfeather picked back up the catmint and entered the den. She spotted the tortyshell she-cat waiting patiently. "Oh! Lillyfeather there you are!" Berrystream greeted. "Yes, now what brings you to Thunderclan camp?" Lillyfeather replied as she placed the leaves back in the store. "I have come to discuss the shortage of herbs, as it has been affecting Riverclan greatly." The medicine cat spoke. "Your not the only one, this leafbare has effected us all." Lillyfeather replied, placing the last of the catmint in it right spot. 'Should I tell her about the sign? Nothing is going to get better if no one understands the danger.' Lillyfeather thought to herself. "Indeed, the sickness only gets worse every day." Berrystream fidgeted around like there was something else on her mind. "Cut to the case Berrystream, why are you really here?" Lillyfeather asked, getting impatient. "Fine. I am am here to offer you a trade of herbs." "What kind of trade?" Lillyfeather curiously asked. "Like I said, there is a sickness going through Riverclan. And I was wondering if you would be generous enough to give up some feverfew." Berrystream tapped her tail, waiting for an answer. "What are you offering?" Lillyfeather sat down. "Comofry. I noticed you might need some after your skirmish with Windclan." Lillyfeateher started thinking. She did have some feverfew, but it was precious for fevers, and most of the Windclan injuries were healing fine. "I reject your offer." She stated. "Fine... I'll try another clan." Berrystream sighed and started to pad away. "Do you need an escort? I think there's a storm coming." Lillyfeather mewed. "I'll be fine." Lillyfeather watched the tortyshell cat go. That was it. She needed to tell the other medicine cats. Lillyfeather wasn't wrong about the storm either. It started snowing hard, and she decided to move some of the sick cats into the medicine den so if they needed something, she would have the right herbs in paws reach. Silverpaw was in the aprentices den with her siblings, to keep them company. Even though Lillyfeather needed the medicine cat apprentice with her to help, she knew Silverpaw missed Maplepaw and Flintpaw and wanted to spend more time with them. Lillyfeather scanned the den, making sure she got all the cats. Birchwood, Heathermouse, Nightfrost, and Reedtail, who was still overcoming his wounds from the Windclan battle. Then all of a sudden, she heard something small rummaging through her herbs. (Go to notes/credits)
Lillyfeather carefully sifted aside the leaves to reveal a little white and gray kit. "Breezekit!? What are you doing here?" The kit looked up at her. "Hi willyfethar! I followed mommy here." Breezekit mewed hoping out of the leaves. "Your supposed to be with Olivebloom." Lillyfeather panicked. If Breezekit stayed in the den, he could catch the sickness, but it there was too much snow outside to take him back safely. "Im s-sorry..if he caused you trouble." Heathermouse wheezed. "No, no, it's okay. Just take it easy." Lillyfeather padded to the sick queen. Breezekit bounced over too. "Mommy!" Heathermouse started licking his head. Lillyfeather felt her forehead. "I suppose Breezekit can stay with you until this storm lets up. Your fever isn't too high, and he needs milk." Lillyfeather mewed. "thank you lillyfeather." Heathermouse meowed, pulling Breezekit close. "So I can stay? Yay!" The kit bounced up and down. Lillyfeather sat down next to her herbs and started placing the leaves Breezekit knocked off. She was grateful that the kit had someone who loved him more than the world. Lillyfeather heald her head high as she leaped onto the high rock next to Holowstar. The clan was gatherbeneath, chatting with the other cats beside them, confused about why a meeting was called. She knew though. Hollowstar had called the clan together for Lillyfeather to tell them about her dream at the moonpool. "You are probably wondering why I called you here today." The leader begin speaking. The cats below turned and quieted, giving him their attention. "Last halfmoon at the moonpool, our medicine cat had a dream. Lillyfeather, would you like to explain?" Lillyfeather took a deep breath. She and Holowstar had talked about this before, but yet she was still nervous. "I had a sign." She began. Lillyfeather continued to tell the clan about what she saw that night. As she spoke, some cats gasped, others started talking to one another. But none of the clan seemed happy. "Is it true that newleaf will never come?" Mewed Frogleaf when she was done "I'm not sure, but we need to stay strong through this leafbare or none of the clans can survive." Lillyfeather answered. She still didn't know who the greatest enemy was, or how long leafbare can last. "Are my kits going to be okay?" Olivebloom asked, clutching her two fuzzy kits with her tail. "I-I don't know. I hope." Lillyfeather answered, starting to wonder if telling the clan was the right choice. A few more cats gasped and some started yelling. The camp quickly erupted into chaos. "It will be okay, I promise." Lillyfeather said, starting to gain back attention. "I am going to visit the moonpool tonight and gain a clearer answer." She yelled. "Meeting dismissed!" Hollowstar yowled, causing the cats to dismiss themselves back to their den. Lillyfeather leaped down from the high rock and watched the cats scatter. Hollowstar followed her. "You did good." He said, trying to sound comforting. "Oh Hollowstar. I don't know what I'm doing. We can't keep everyone hopeful forever." Lillyfeather sighed. "Hey, it's okay. Maybe you'll find something out at the moonpool." Lillyfeather looked into his eyes. "We hope, I'm going to get the traveling herbs ready." She padded off to the medicine cat den. Lillyfeather crouched over the clear, sparkly pool of water. She took a deep breath and bent over, touching her nose to its surface. It felt ice cold, but soon she drifted off into sleep. Lillyfeather awoke in a starry forest. "Hello?" she called out. No reply. "Show yourself! I need answers." A few more second passed by. Then, a tall light orange tabby stepped out of the mist. "Creamfeild?" Lillyfeather immediately recognized her past mentor. "I know why you’re here." The starclan cat spoke. "Yes, can you help me? I don't know what to do." Traces of urgency came to Lillyfeather's words. "How do I find our 'greatest enemy'?" "You are strong, Lillyfeather. But Thunderclan alone can't solve this." Creamfeild warned, her voice still steady. "So I should tell the other clans?" "The fate of all clans doesn't land in your paws only." She disappeared back into the trees before Lillyfeather could say another word. Lillyfeather snapped awake, finding herself still at the Moonpool. She needed to tell Holowstar! Authors note: sadly, I will not be continuing The Newleaf That Never Came. This is for many reasons, but mostly lack of interest and since I am getting more busy with Broken Promises and others. But if you are really sad about this, I left something special inside. :3
