Hello! I've decided to start posting some book reviews because I want to share some really great books with everyone (: 11/15/25 Book: Braiding Sweetgrass (or Braiding Sweetgrass For Young Adults) Author: Robin Wall Kimmerer- the one for younger people is adapted by Monique Gray Smith This book shares both Indigenous worldviews and knowledge about the natural world, painting a picture of how we can embrace reciprocity to heal our relationship with the earth. I'd recommend this book to anyone struggling with environmental anxiety. It really did make me think about how harmful modern-day society is and our relationship with the natural world. But really, I'd recommend this book to anyone. I thought the more people I shared it with, the more change we could spark. I really liked the narratives woven together with knowledge and facts. Including the author's experiences and reflecting on how a "gift economy" mindset can help heal the earth, this book acknowledges environmental problems while dissecting the problems with our everyday society. In addition, facts on plants and the intricate workings of the natural world had men captivated. If you like learning about trees, gardening, and the relationship between species, you'll probably enjoy this. Overall, this book uses beautiful writing to compare scientific knowledge with traditional Indigenous ideology, telling us how the earth gives gifts we must reciprocate. 5/5 stars.
Thank you to Robin Wall Kimmerer for writing this amazing book! #climate #environment #books #review
