———hello!!——— welcome to my gaehive manager application !! i’m hilda!! i use she/her pronouns, i’ve been a member of the gaehive for a bit over two years, and i’m currently in CST. some things I enjoy doing are reading, crocheting, and drawing (either digitally or with pencil). i’m a teen, and i’m usually on the hive at around 5pm-8pm CST on school days, and on weekends, it really depends, but i’ll often be online at about 9am-12pm CST. i would be a good manager because i always like to keep things positive as well as organized. the latter is applicable in situations such as remembering to open or close comments at the designated times, inviting new gaehive members as soon as possible after they request invitations, and keeping pending suggestions from the discussion studio in mind. i also have experience managing other studios ! a downside to me being a manager is that i sometimes hold grudges against people, even if something that they said was in the past. i noted this in a previous application as well, and i have definitely worked on this and become more forgiving since then, but it is still an issue. i would love to be a manager because the gaehive has been a big part of my life for a long time now, the managers (current and past) have really helped me be a more mature person, and the studio in general has really helped with my mental health overall. i would like to be that help for others, because it was very meaningful to me in some really difficult periods of my life. some things that set me apart from other candidates are… 1. i’m jewish! i’m pretty sure that Roswell (@cryptic-signs) is also jewish, but i think it could still be good to have more representation of judaism in our managers. i’ve noticed that jewish holidays are often not put in the description, and it would be lovely if they were ! 2. i can understand less recognized curators’ POVs because for the majority of my time on the hive, i have not been very popular. i honestly have no sense of how well known i currently am, but i know that for at least my first year on the gaehive, i didn’t make a single friend. a lot of people that are currently popular on the hive became popular very quickly and therefore don’t have that experience of feeling left out. (i’ll get back to solutions for this in a bit) something that i would like to help improve about the gaehive relates to what i just acknowledged- popularity. i’m not saying that anybody who easily became popular isn’t valid, of course, because it’s not even their fault and all of those people that i’ve spoken to are very nice, but there is no reason that so many people have to feel left out. we have done this in the past, but something that i think we should do more often is create projects that allow people to be matched with another person who has similar interests as a way to make friends. i would be open to running programs like this maybe once every couple months ! i believe that becoming a manager of the gaehive most importantly entails welcoming everybody and acknowledging others’ ideas. the maxim of the gaehive is “a safe space for all” and i think that should be the top priority for this type of space that is meant to welcome everybody and their opinions. — recommendations! — Matt () would make a very good manager! i’ve noticed that he can stay calm in stressful situations, and he often apologizes and makes things right if he’s done something that offended somebody. Squirt () would be a lovely manager as well. he is a really cheerful person and i recently learned that he manages the gaehive wiki, which is a helpful and extensive resource for newcomers. in summary, i think that my silliness and goosefulness would be good for the gaehive!! that’s it !! thank you for reading and good luck to all of the other candidates !
