A another theme shown for Limetown is unexpected this is shown when Lia is sleeping in her hotel room early in the morning. In a quiet, deserted place that hadn’t seen business likely in a long time after interviewing a survivor/citizen of Limetown. She (Lia) suddenly hears a man bang on her door screaming. The creators of Limetown first have Lia make a recording for the police if she ends up dead at the beginning of the noise. This adds suspense by explicitly stating that Lia could be killed or kidnapped, since the creators of Limetown already make listeners deeply care about Lia and what happened at Limetown (I’ll explain how they do this in the last paragraph) which also helps the listeners feel frightened and jittery along with Lia, it makes the stakes high, which further develops the mood. The theme shown is eerie, When Lia is trying to find out more information about Limetown while she is in a call she gets a call from a stranger under her mothers phone number who is in her home. It adds another layer of horrifyingness when says her name repeatedly and in a low and threatening tone and calls her in school pictures beautiful. The stranger's words and his tone give Limetown an extra and surprising splash of suspense. The creators prepare the listener by adding suspense before hand by using quiet and mild but still audible that impacts the listener's mind for suspense. Another tool they (the creators of Limetown) use is having the stranger calling during another call that is unsuspected. The creator uses the stranger talking in a low and eerie tone and also that he was in Lia’s home. All this developed the mood as the reader figures out what happens slowly but surely and it makes the reader worry what happened and if Lia’s family is alright and if Lia is being hunted down this makes the reader care deeply about the characters therefore more attached to the story which in turn makes them more interested in what happens in Limetown even though it’s a fictional story. Both authors of Limetown and “Monsters on Maple Street” This is the art of fiction that the creators of Limetown use, it is the art of making the fake real in a way. Telling stories to connect and engage people is one of the most human things to do isn’t it? Therefore I decree that both Limetown and “There are Monsters on Maple Street” use sound as a way of making a mood for their story sharper and more emotional. My argument is that both stories use sound as a way of amplifying the moods. Both stories do this by, adding breaks and silent but unsteady periods music/sound affects in the background, building of suspense and also dialogue between characters. That is why I think in Limetown and “There are Monsters on Maple Street”`sound is a crucial element. Thank you for reading this essay I hoped you enjoyed it.
