(This announcement is only on Scratch) I'll get right to it! Legacy Edition's final version may be posted on Itch, but not Scratch. Reasons are as follows: - REASON 1: Different Guidelines. This is the biggest reason. The original THSMC had a heavy amount of censorship to comply with Scratch's guidelines. In fact, a lot of elements didn't match the original plans, such as > Henry having a Bomber instead of the Rocket Launcher from the PuffballsUnited games, with the Bomber bearing very little resemblance to said Rocket Launcher > Most Toppats using melee attacks instead of weapons, with the exception of Macbeth since he fires lasers > The "dumbing down" of most weapons that ARE in the game, reducing them to only firing electric shocks, plasma, or unidentifiable bullet-type objects To match the original vision of the game, I'd like to restore these weapons. However, in doing so, I could break the Scratch Guidelines. Sites like Itch, on the other hand, have no complaints against this inclusion. So, I would have to... A) Upload the game only to Itch B) Create a Scratch version that maintains the same censorship as the first THSMC (unlikely - this is a lot of spritework) C) Upload the same version to both Itch and Scratch (risky - remember what happened to @HeyoGame's FtC2) For the extra cautious, weapons are the only thing that would be changed - not using PG-13+ language was an intentional design choice and I still won't use it in the final version. - REASON 2: Better Performance. This is a more minor issue (we got around it with DON'TLOSEHER) but it's still worth noting here. Since Double Trouble, the THSMC games have been made using the TurboWarp editor. While I've been careful to only use features that are compatible with Scratch, this has limited the amount of things I can do with the games (interpolation, 60 FPS, camera controls, different methods of storage, sprite pausing, better sound looping, etc.). If I am to make Legacy Edition the best it can be, it would be nice - though not required - to use the full range of TurboWarp's abilities. The problem with this is that the second I use a TurboWarp extension, the project becomes incompatible with Scratch. Again, I don't have to use these extensions, but it would be nice. - REASON 3: Project Too Big. While Legacy Edition is being optimized in more places than ever, there is still a risk of the project being too big for Scratch due to the sheer amount of costumes. Just the Henry sprites use more than 100 costumes, and that number is rapidly growing. Bigger projects means more grey question-mark blocks, and frankly, I don't want to have to deal with that, nor have an entire comment section filled with this complaint. Using Itch would be the best way to avoid a potential situation. THAT'S ALL MY REASONS!!!11!!1!1!!!!! The decision isn't final, but if I do choose to make the switch, updates such as this one will STILL be posted on Scratch, as well as links to the full game on Itch. Feel free to bring up any concerns - I'll gladly answer them. ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... What, you're still here? Okay, let's talk NAMING CONVENTIONS. You may have noticed that since the October trailer, I've been referring to the game as simply "The Henry StickMINI Collection" instead of "The Henry StickMINI Collection - Legacy Edition". The main reason for this change is that the game has two audiences. - The first audience is Scratch (you are here!) - The second audience is other sites such as Itch/Reddit. The Scratch audience has seen the original THSMC, so calling this version "Legacy Edition" helps to differentiate the two. But, for the other audience, this is their first time seeing THSMC and calling this version by a name suggesting a remaster would be rather confusing. So, the game will still be called "Legacy Edition" on Scratch, but simply "The Henry StickMINI Collection" on other sites. You can tell the difference by the new logo (containing the Fedoramaniac's hat), though I will probably not mention the original THSMC outside of Scratch. Okay, that's really it.
