⚠️WARNING⚠️This next chapter includes intense arguments, an implied toxic personality, and transphobia. If you are triggered by any of these, PLEASE SKIP THE CHAPTER, at least the first part. (You’ll know when you see the lines.) Have fun and STAY SAFE!!! Chapter One Nyxxie “These woods are lovely, dark and deep, but I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep.” -Robert Frost “I KNOW THAT YOU’RE HIDING SOMETHING FROM ME!” Tori yelled from behind my bedroom door. “I promise, I’m not, why don’t you believe me?” I asked, groaning, leaning against the door cross-legged. This, of course, was a lie. There were so many things I was keeping from her, and for good reason too. Tori had been my friend for ages, since kindergarten, and we were even more than friends at some point. But when I transitioned, she broke up with me. Our friendship, even, was tested. She almost left me. Maybe it would’ve been better that way. But now it was happening again. And if she didn’t accept me being a boy, she sure as heck wouldn’t accept me for my true form. “If you aren’t hiding anything, then why are you moving?” She yelled. “Because I… because… it’s my dad.” I responded, “He has a new job in another state..” “I know that isn’t true.” Then again, she also could always tell when I was lying. “You wouldn’t understand.” I responded. She sobbed. Ugh, such a drama queen. How did I ever like her again? “You didn’t understand the first time we had a fight like this.” I said. “Yeah, well, I accepted you eventually.” She groaned, “And besides, it’s your fault for making such a big deal out of this little phase.” My cheeks turned red-hot in anger. A single tear slid down my face as my breathing quickened. That was the last straw. “Get. Out. Of. My. House.” I heaved, my breath shaky. I could almost hear her smirk. “You what?” “GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!” I screamed, a river flowing down my eyes, on the edge of a tantrum. I closed my eyes tight, curled into a ball, and put my hands over my ears until I could hear the gentle noise of her footsteps walking away. Thank goodness we were moving. ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— I was laying in bed, hiding under my covers, and crying. I don’t know why I was still crying. It was stupid. Maybe it was because she was my best friend, but we were going to move away from her anyway. “Picture me softly like a ball of wasabi..” the music rang through my ears. Suddenly I heard it, however faint, a knock on my door. “Honey? You okay?” My dad asked. I didn’t answer him. The moon shone a little brighter as if it were judging me. “I kicked Tori out, if that’s what you’re wondering.” I smiled a lot bigger than I’d care to admit. “I don’t know why you liked her anyway. Who would even be friends with someone who hates Stranger Things? Suspicious..” A chuckle escaped my mouth. “Daaaaaad…” “Are you excited for moving day?” He responded. “Kinda. I mean, you can only be so excited about moving to Florida. Besides, I don’t want to be away from you.” I sighed. “A boarding school with kids like you will be good for you. And besides, I’m sure you’re tired of your nerdy parents.” He chuckled. I know most teens aren’t supposed to like their parents, but I think he’s scared of that even more since I’m adopted. I don’t know what he’s so worried about. “...Did you at least pack something?” He quipped. I look down at my suitcase. “I’ll start soon. I promise.” “...And by that you mean you’ll procrastinate til the last minute, then start at 5:00 AM tomorrow thirty minutes before we have to leave for the airport?” I stared at the door, wrapped up in a cozy blanket, and rolled my eyes. “You know me so well.” “I’ve known you for thirteen years.” He chuckled, “Have a nice time in this house. You know it’s the last time.” “Good riddance to the creaky ceilings, then.” I laughed. I laid down within my blanket, staring up at the ceiling with tired eyes, until I heard the door to his and Mom’s room close. Then, I tiptoed over to my broken-down door which was practically fallen off its hinges, and walked out. The ratty carpet crunched under my feet as I walked outside to the backyard. It was strange, now that I was leaving, I couldn’t help but notice all of the nostalgic ruins. As I stepped outside, the full moon shone in my glowing red eyes. I inhaled, and as I let the breath out, my body turned fuzzy and my wings and antennae finally poked out of my skin. I sighed in relief. I hadn’t been able to transform for ages. But in my new school, nobody would care that I was Mothman.
Kryptos Forest By Moth I will try to write a new chapter every week! If you have questions or theories put them in the comments :D First Chapter: You are here! Previous Chapter: This is as previous as it gets! Next Chapter: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1244444717 Image is a lazy moth meme from Google :P Feel free to make cover entries... but I mean you don't have character refs yet so it's anyone's guess whether they're accurate
