the doe-eyed damsel of the grove . 2235 words hi blossoms <3 note :: this story is NOT for everyone. it's fairly confusing (me trying to cover up the fact that half of it makes no sense) and dark and uh yeah TT note :: for better quality,, see text version (https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/846732/?page=27#post-8843825) controls :: ~ scroll down/move down - down arrow ~ scroll up/move up - up arrow tw :: - references/mentions of abvs3 - graphic imagery info:: "the doe-eyed damsel of the grove” is a short story psychological horror piece about a cycle of inheritance in a relative line involving abvs3 and mental trauma. the narrative is told on three different timelines, each representing a part of the abusive cycle in a dynasty. the first is represented by past tense and third person, including a flashback to the character’s life before isolation. the second timeline is the way the story is actually being told and focuses on the character ainsley (which i chose because of the name’s meaning, which is “one’s own meadow”) and her experiences. the final timeline is represented through future tense and second person, almost acting as a warning to the readers that the cycle is going to continue and is continuing. ainsley is simply a placeholder of who could potentially be in her situation. i wanted to present her as more of that figure and absent placeholder than character,, especially early on, to show that she is not the only one in a cycle to experience the events of the story. in moments where the tenses shift,, usually combined with repetition of a line with a slightly altered format, it does so to convey the timelines coming together. marigolds (when worn in the hair) - mental anguish. cyclamens - resignation or goodbye the owl is a symbol of hidden truths and knowledge, bringing to light the character’s forgotten past. the birds pecking (grass bI4d3s), the talons (willow leaves), and the bI00d (water from the pond) are only misconceptions of what the character believes is happening. the fifth header ties back to the character’s wishes, the cycle of abuse,, and also just overall insanity of the story. the header (and story) ends with a direct definition of insanity: to do something over and over again and expect a different ending. to do something over and over again: a cycle. a cycle of insanity. i hope you enjoy !! - xoxo,, sky pie <3
