[space or click] idk if any of you all went through hour of code when you were little, but as someone who has literally been using scratch on a RasPi (1.4, 2.0) since kindergarten, you can easily assume i had to, which would be a true assumption. (i love redundancies.) so anyways i was like "huh i wonder how they're doing now? global organization that helped me learn to code, must be really relevant now huh--" if you go to the website, you can now see that these guys preach this thing called "vibe coding". Now, what is vibe coding? two words. "hey, chatgpt--". We should not be teaching this as the new way to code. It'd be one thing if "Hour of AI" (will always be HoC in my heart) taught how neural networks functioned, or how to properly use APIs, but teaching kids to "prompt well"??? what? i can go into chatgpt right now and be like "make me a thing and make it good" and it'll do it. it's not difficult lmao?? you don't need to teach it like it's some art form. i should probably get my stance on ai out of the way here, because it's pretty complex. I've written two theses lmao. let's start with the fact that AI is great. We have a much better shot at curing cancer now. We have a much better shot of diagnosing illnesses and finding trends early on. But there are tons and tons and tons of cons. for example, the fact that it's taking jobs and destroying the environment. My big stance on ai is that we should have waited until after solving the climate crisis to start/continue development on AGI/large-scale LLMs + generative sch31ße. It's like showing up to a painting class and the teacher hands you a camera. The camera can still make art and pictures (DISCLAIMER AI ART IS NOT ART), but you didn't really learn to do what you wanted to do. Or alternatively, showing up to a college physics lecture and the professor says "okay just google it". anyways i'm tired, so give me your opinions in the comments :) thanks for reading all of this <3 upd: asked bro/bestie abt it and he lowk crashed out so now i know it's not just me. yay
bc i was thinking about nostalgia the song in this project is Popit Academy Term 1 from LBP3, a song i'd play the levels of for hours on end just to hear the music when i was like 8
