This project is intended for football enthusiasts and fans, but also for football clubs activists/staff of any level of competition. It might be especially useful for the clubs in lower leagues and juniors, where no stats are collected from the side of event organizers during the match. It can be used even for the indoor football. It gives you possibility to create solid, professional-like game statistic, which will faithfully reflect performances of teams. I tried to make it as user-friendly as possible, so that you can enjoy watching the match as you normally do. Instructions Click on green flag to start/restart the project. Enter names of playing teams. Names should not be longer than 13 characters (including spaces) because of space limitation. So, instead of, let's say, Ajax Amsterdam, type only Ajax or Amsterdam. Press 'space' when referee gives sign for start. This will start the game clock. Do the same for the end of the halftime (pause game clock), start of the second halftime and game end. Only when game clock is running, left and right arrows are active (see bellow). Generate passing/possession statistics This is the heart of this project. Please read following text carefully to understand how it works and what you can expect from it. You will be registering first touches of players of both teams. To the team on the left side of the window is left arrow assigned and right arrow to the team on the right. So, each time, let's say, player of the team on the left side of the window touches ball (only first touch, please) you should press left arrow. Completed pass is counted when one team registers two successive first touches. Passing accuracy is calculated as the ratio of completed passes out of all first touches. Possession is calculated with the help of possession clocks (they are not displayed) which are triggered/paused with left/right arrow keys each time the ball changes the owner, and presented in percentages. There is a time-out clock which will automatically pause possession clocks after 20 seconds of passivity (if you don't press left or right arrow during 20 seconds period). This is done because of possible longer breaks in game, like after some bad foul, so that you don't have to manually pause these clocks. This way you will get results that will reflect possession stats of the teams during active periods of the game more accurately. You may notice that even good tackles will be recorded as not completed passes, but this is price to be payed to keep this project user-friendly. If you are aware of this fact, you will be able to evaluate collected data better, and data will still very well reflect performances of both teams. Other entry keys As soon as you hit 'space' and start recording first touches with left and right arrow, you will notice green button appearing/disappearing next to the names of teams. This is an indicator and tells you which team is 'active'. All other entry keys, like 'g' for goal for example, are related to it. Meaning, if you press 'g', goal will be recorded on the side of 'active' team, marked by green button next to its name. Sometimes it will be necessary to change which team is 'active' in order to register an event on the pitch (normally in the case of foul) and this is done by pressing 'a' key (this will not influence passing/possession stats). All entry keys are shown (in red color) by default, it makes no sense to list them here again. Press 'k' to hide/show entry keys. Other keys 'space' - start/pause game clock 'a' - change which team is active 'k' - hide/show entry keys 'u' - undo last entry (there is only one (last) entry recorded in undo memory) 'h' - show/hide quick help Other remarks The game clock will not reset to 45:00 when you hit 'space' to start second halftime, as it is done normally, but it will just continue from there where it was paused at the end of first halftime. It will show you actual playing time at the end of the game. 'Shots on goal' statistics will automatically update when you register a goal. If you wish to share or save collected data for later analysis there is, unfortunately, only one way of doing it: make the screenshot of the stats window (hide entry keys before). Have a fun!
