nick (he.him) straight young and doesn’t know much about the lgbtq+ community. fresh off an elementary school breakup, he finds himself thrust into a dilemma. the best friend he’s known for years, has suddenly changed for him. he feels, well, the way he felt about his old “girlfriend”, olivia nick (he.him) bi ace nick can’t stop thinking about his friend. he considers telling him, but that’s off the table. the way everyone he knows laughs at those people who sit at one of the lunchroom tables, who also feel the way he does? no way. one day, when everyone happens to be absent, he goes over to the table and sits down & they’re shocked , but decide to accept him. slowly he learns about the world through a different lens, and in turn adopts a label that fits him—bisexual. nick (he/they) bi after the group began to get suspicious, finally cracks. over text, he admits everything they’ve been hiding from the group. his best friend, forestt, instantly reaches out. they have also been feeling a similar way, and didn’t know what to do. the group shuns the two, and they’re mocked endlessly, but at least they’re happy. sort of. nico (they/he/it/any) pansexual genderqueer One day, while entering the house, they overhear an argument about same-sex marriage between its parents. nico is heartbroken—he thought they were good people. his mom is, at least. his dad…not so much. he spends more time on the internet as a coping mechanism, and decides to adopt the term “genderqueer” to reflect their feelings inside. it’s dad lets him dye their hair but “not a gay color” nick. he/him . straight nick and forestt get a little too careless, and now his father knows that he’s queer. furious, nick is sent to a conservative therapist to “work out his issues”. before his computer is taken away and denounced “demon spawn”, he reads on tumblr that conversion therapy is illegal where he lives. is that what that is?he doesn’t know. he’s forced to cut off all contact with forestt & is put in a catholic school. nova (she/any) transfem agender omni at the new school, it turns out it’s full of queer teens that have been sent to be “cured”. they encourage nova to embrace her feminine side, and continue to push more and more labels on her with absolute certainty. one girl, named jaz, is particularly pushy. she lends nova her old clothes and gives her a “girly makeover” nova remembers Olivia faintly, and realizes that jaz is the same person, but isn't sure that she knows that he used to be Nick. she tells jaz, and the two laugh about the experience. nova (she/her) abro transfem jaz decides to do an at-home hair dying, as well as nova’s hair growing out. nova misses forestt and the kids back home, but jaz soon provides a good distraction. slowly, she begins to have feelings for the girl. they are eventually returned, and they start dating . something feels wrong, though. nova (any prns) straight genderqueer nova realizes what has felt off this whole time. they’re not a girl. they can’t tell jaz, though, because she’s what one would call a “raging lesbian”. slowly, they decide to cut their hair in their dorm, and start wearing less feminine clothes. nova loves jaz with all their heart and doesn’t want to lose her, but doesn’t want to keep pretending to be something that they’re not. niko (or Nico) (he/any) omni genderqueer (fem pref) nico eventually decides to come out again to jaz. he believes that they’ll probably have to separate, and they are ready to cast the blame on himself. surprisingly, though, nico is met the next morning with jaz at the door. she’s also been working through her issues, and realizes that the label homoflexible fits her more, anyways. the two are graduating soon, and they make a pact to never look back to their old lives. the future looks good, but maybe they’ll stick to the present for now. oh, also, he really liked that haircut. other people: forestt (he/him) / gay niko's first boyfriend ! olli / jaz nikos current enbyfriend icon maker: original (another account of mine)
