Space for the next picture, "s" for the speedpaint! I'll be honest, this isn't very accurate to my art process because I'm so inconsistent when it comes to the art process XD Oh yeahhh and I'll be posting my MAP part for Cate's MAP soon hopefully because I haven't been procrastinating?? (https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1237524601 please help out my dear child and consider joining her awesome MAP!) And I will be hosting a DMC/DTIYS soon for 500+! (Thank you so much, everyone!) Okay enough of my random yapping, time to yap about mu inconsistent process~~ It really depends on what type of drawing I'm making, usually when I do paintings, I just start with painting the base colors and render from there. But for this piece, I did whatever this is! Step 1 - Rough sketch This is just to place all the main elements and figure out composition, it sometimes changes when I get farther into the picture because I'm indecisive~ (for this one, I added another hand in the sketching phase) Step 2 - Sketch My sketch process is usually only two steps (this doesn't apply to my paintings though, that's a different process but I'd be interested to see if anyone would be interested lol) and for this picture, I just cleaned up the lines a bit and added detail to the character (in this case, Riddle Rosehearts. TWST fans, anyone?) Step 3 - Base colors Pretty self explanatory. I add in the base colors UuU (ignore the hair) Step 4 - Basic shadows + highlights Uhhh not really sure how to explain this haha~ Firstly, this is NOT the only shading I'll be doing, I'm not done yet bsfjcjjdnd TuT Step 5 - Multiply Layer Woah what the heck happened?? Step 6 - Erase~~ Just to make the picture a lil more interesting and bring out the light source (which I should really have but I don't hahshshfhdjsjk) Step 7 - No linework WHAT HAPPENED?? This is where things start getting complicated (sorry!) basically, I take off the multiply layer and linework so I can start rendering! Not to worry though, the multiply layer will come back! All I can say here is...trust the process...it'll be worth it (I hope)! Step 8 - (Skin) Rendering Whenever I render, I use only one brush, my custom brush, so I really don't know how to explain this part well... (never let Alice be a teacher-) buuuut I like rendering the skin first, it doesn't matter what order though. Step 9 - (Clothes) Rendering Same as step 8, but for the clothes! Honestly it didn't take long at all and I was quite lazy with the clothes (it'll be washed out by the multiply layer anyway~~) Step 10 - Hair!! *POOF!* He has more defined hair now! Step 11 - Fix background a lil~ Not that it did much but now there aren't random blobs in the background, yay! Step 12 - Bring linework layer back! Oh dear that looks strange, doesn't it? Step 13 - *POOF!* all better~ Alice, are you gonna explain what happened? (ahahhaahahahha~~ no.) Step 14 - Bring back the multiply layer! Still not done though~ Step 15 - Smooth out the multiply layer How do you do that, you ask? No clue, just blur certain areas and add some red using the airbrush (I usually use red, I hate painting with red though, it's the absolute worst) Step 16 - Finishing touches! A few things here, a few things there and voila~ we're done! I like blurring the edges of my picture to bring the central focus out a bit more, but that's just what I prefer to do. Step 17 - Bonus picture of Riddle's dream outfit drawn on scratch because I felt like it~ It's been forever since I've drawn on bitmap >u< (makes me so nostalgic) Thanks for sticking with me until the end!
