If American fire alarms had VADs similar to those of British fire alarms, you'd be imagining Wheelock speaker strobes with red strobes instead of white strobes. One difference between American and British VADs would be that American VAD lens are colored so you can easily tell they will flash that color, while British VAD lens are all clear so you can't tell if they will flash white or red. Here's a fact: China actually uses many American fire alarm devices, most of which actually have red strobes.
