Click to zoom, click "Switch" to see the other artwork. Happy birthday, Lauren! This gift was a little late present for Lauren's birthday, and I decided to share it here. For anyone wondering, the kanji in the bottom right usually means child, but in this case it means “the first sign of the Chinese zodiac”, and anyone who has read Lauren’s lore will know what that means, hehe. I'm really proud of how this art turned out! My artstyle is inspired heavily by Marikyuun (look her up, she's super cool) but for this one I went for even more of a Marikyuun style than usual. I wanted to emphasize the cartoon style since I was drawing from Lauren's art, and so I made all the colors nice and bright and made the character nice and round to mimic the way Lauren draws her. Longtime followers might recognize this character since I also drew her almost exactly a year and a half ago as Lauren's prize for winning my coding contest. It's kinda crazy to see side by side.
