Someone told me that they lost motivation and stopped making their novel on Scratch recently. I think a lot of people are like that. They don’t get views, so they lose motivation. They also think they’re not good at drawing. I've been there. I know how it feels. I’m still there. It hurts, I know. I kept losing motivation before because I didn’t get a lot of views and fans, as if no one even wanted my series to be continued. That’s why I discontinued three of my series: Gems, My Bloody Star and Sketch Cat. (It was also because I didn’t think the story through.) But hey, you’re making this for yourself and it’s your hobby, it’s not something made for others to read. I know it’s hard, but if you are able to face it, you’ll get better and better. One day, others will see you. Remember, keep going! Every step gets you closer :) But I get it. You still care about the views and still think you aren’t good at drawing. One speech won’t change your whole life. I think everyone can draw well, it depends on how much you practise. At first, my art looked like trash *gags* I’m very lucky I can’t find those anymore :’) But I took a lot of practise (definitely not in Math lessons no..) and it’s better now! No artwork or art style is perfect, but it can get better and better!! I know you can do it if you want to! (Btw, it didn’t affect my studies don’t worry lol)
Here are some tips for getting better at drawing: 1. Practise A LOT. Literally every single day. You are able to do it if you really love drawing. 2. NEVER compare yourself with others. No one has great art or a whole bunch of followers in the start. Comparing with others makes you lose motivation. You WILL get better in the future if you try. Do not let others affect you, including their insults. 3. Try using reference, such as images from Google (any website is fine) or other’s art. Don’t try really complicated ones at first, draw at your own pace. (You have to give credit if you post it though) Disclaimer: Do not only use ONE person’s art as reference. If you do that, you wouldn’t be able to create an art style, it’d just be copying. And do you think you would be able to make it better than the original creator? No. So use multiple people’s art for reference instead. Also, do not ONLY copy the references. As I said, no art is perfect, neither is your reference. Try to develop your OWN art style and don't tell yourself it’s ugly. Just keep trying. Try to draw without a reference once you’ve got the hang of it. There is more but I forgot. Anyway, hope this helps!
