Akkorokamui facts: ____________________________________________ Where it’s from: Native to Hokkaido, Japan, especially around Uchiura Bay. Part of Ainu folklore (the Ainu are the Indigenous people of northern Japan). What it looks like: A massive red octopus or squid-like creature. Said to be over 300 feet long (super huge!). Has bright red skin that glows underwater. Behavior: Lives in the ocean and sometimes near coastal villages. Can create huge waves when it moves. Known for being very strong and fast. Powers / Abilities (folklore): Can change shape slightly. Can regrow limbs. Has a “shining” red glow visible even in deep water.
