(not me finally drawing again after months of saying i have no time, but then doing it today when i have 10+ assignments due in a few days :]) Welcome to my Kpop Opinions. 1 . sasaengs actually need help. Especially the hybe group ones- like cortis and enhypen are literally being physically harassed at the airports. Not to mention the home break ins- that is genuinely terrifying. The extent to which people will go just to see these artists is scary. The problem with idolizing humans is that it can negatively affect both parties. An unhealthy, parasocial obsession with an artist will lead a fan to do insane things. This will subsequently impact the artist, leaving to mental stress and fear of physical harm, even if unintentionally. All in all, while it's great to have biases and favorites and stuff, please keep it to a respectful level and for everybody's sakes, don't make them your whole world. (<--- suki's anti delulu pill, free now everywhere at your local spop shop.) 2. This one is a bit controversial but like- some people make it a big deal about how international fans don't pronounce korean names properly. But I'm from the side that's like- you don't (normally) see a Korean person talking in Korean about their favorite foods and then they suddenly whip out an American accent and say 'McDonalds.' They say Maek-do-narl-deu (맥도날드). Most English speaking people will say 'He sung', not hee-seung (희승). And while I personally will try my best to say a person's name like how they say it, I also accept the fact that most Japanese people will pronounce my name 'Or-ri-bi-a', not Olivia (my real name :]) and I personally don't really mind. It's just the way that they say it, and the fact that their mouths don't move the same way native english speakers' do. So while it does feel a bit wrong to hear people saying 'He sung', 'Jong cook', and 'Jaeng Wun young', it's also just as awkward to hear 'Oh yeah, my biases are 이희승 and 박성훈.' I don't exactly know where I was going with this, but that's just my opinion on the matter. 3. I think Ahyeon is getting too much unnecessary hate for her vocals, but at the rate she's going, she might not even have vocals left to criticize after a few years TT I'm also worried that all this hate will make her scared to sing, like how Sakura from Le Sserafim lost her confidence to sing after the encores and Coachella hate train. Also like what's happening with Rami? Is she not coming back? Because like bro- If Rami does end up leaving the group, I feel like YG is going to push Ahyeon even more to strain herself and do all these crazy high note acrobatics. And that's just a recipe for disaster at this point. Anyway. 4. Can I just say... I don't especially love the rise of mature concepts in Kpop recently. I feel like with the recent influx of a western audience, kpop companies are trying to cater to them with western concepts. Like I get their marketing strategy- people are less likely to be embarassed about listening to Loose than Billy Poco (both bops, by the way), because that's more 'in' in today's western music scene, but not every mv has to be a thirst trap, you know. I know there are groups that have more youthful concepts, but then most of the time their styling is inappropriate for their concept and age. I know people try to counter this with "well I'm their age and I wear crop tops and short shorts everday" but it's not the same. You're likely not performing for hundreds, if not thousands of people in that same outfit. You're also probably not being recorded on a video that could potentially garner millions of views. You're not living the same life they are. You probably aren't as exposed to as many gross people as they are. 5. Music Bank, may I have a Jangkku reunion, please? Thank you :) 6. What the actual heck is going on with Newjeans TT I don't believe they're going to be able to come back with the same reception as before. I don't even remember what caused this whole mess, so I'm really just sad that they stopped making music and public appearances. I watched like every single video of theirs ever since I discovered them a few months after their debut, and they were my favourite girl group for a long time. I hope they sort out whatever they need to do, but I don't see much of a future for them under the new Ador. 7. The memes for All Day Project winning the daesang were actually so funny but it's also kind of sad. So many groups are working so hard, but money really does talk. There is almost no legitimate way that ADP won the award solely on their own merit. They only had two songs at that time, and most of their publicity was negatively directed at Tarzzan and Annie (though there was also hype for Bailey being a renowned dancer, Woochan being a former member of Trainee A, and Youngseo being an former Ill-it member). If they made actually decent music, maybe I wouldn't mind, but it's not actually that great.
Maybe I have bad music taste, idk, but I find the majority of their raps (which takes up a majority of their songs) to be really awkward and hard to listen to. Especially Tarzzan's rap in One More Time- that was a spectacularly hot mess, in my opinion. I have no sense of flow myself, but that rap was not it. Also Annie's rap in Wicked was kind of cringe, I'm not even going to lie. It also just sounded awkward... I don't not like them, but I don't love them either. I mostly just watched them because Youngseo was my bias in RuNext (along with Iroha) and I was legitimately so sad when she left ill-it. 8. Ni-ki needs his eyebrows back. I'm so sorry, I know a lot of people says he looks good with his blond mullet. But like, remember when bro had eyebrows https://p1n(delete).1t/28Nfu0Oqo I personally don't love his current hair, because it looks like a freshly hatched baby duck's feathers about to fly away. 9. Iroha should be more popular. I mean, imagine being so pretty and funny and talented. Like, why wouldn't you be popular? 10. Rumi does not look Korean. She doesn't even look that Asian TT 11. I love it when groups sing live, even if they get out of breath in some parts. It shows their dedication to their craft and the hard work they put in to be able to sing and dance at the same time. Nmixx is currently one of the best groups at this, in my opinion. Their live dance practice of High Horse and Spinnin' On It is crazzyy. (ALSO I LOVE SULLYOON'S VOCAL TONE SO MUCH- she and Kyujin are my biases) 12. Everybody should go listen to Sohang's cover of Golden. That woman is an incredible singer and I am upset that I only found out about her last night. Anyways those are just my humble opinionz. Please don't steal my art. Also is it obvious that I started with the face and then gave up on the hair and hands...ignore the fact that she has no fingernails lol Also why are eyelashes so hard to do. The only things that turned out kinda decent are her nose, lips, and chin. Also doing her blush was pretty satisfying.
