TFFrp Research Guide Welcome! If an admin sent you here, this guide will explain everything you need to know about researching disabilities/disorders for your character in TFFrp. Reading carefully will help ensure your character is portrayed accurately, respectfully, and thoughtfully. In TFFrp, we encourage roleplayers to explore a wide range of disabilities and disorders. This allows for richer, more diverse characters, but it also comes with responsibility. Proper research is essential; your characters condition should be portrayed realistically, not stereotypically or incorrectly. Key points: 1. Ableism is strictly prohibited. Ableist comments, behavior, or roleplay will result in warnings, suspensions, or bans depending on severity and repetition. 2. Disabilities/disorders do not define a character. A condition is only one aspect of your character. Focus on creating a full personality, goals, relationships, and quirks beyond their disability or disorder. 3. Be open to learning. Part of creating an accurate portrayal involves research, discussion, and reflection. Research requirements When submitting a character with a disability or disorder, you need to provide evidence of proper research. You must include: > At least 3 credible sources or links > Two original paragraphs (not AI-generated) that explain: - About the disability/disorder: What it is, how it develops, common symptoms, and ways people manage or treat it (2–3 sentences minimum). - Impact on your character: How it influences their daily life, interactions, and behavior in roleplay (5+ sentences minimum). *See the “Notes & Credits” section for sources approved by TFFrp* Using personal experience Some roleplayers write characters that share their own experiences with a disability or disorder. Here's how personal experience counts in research: > Personal experience can replace up to 2/3 required sources, but you still need at least one external source to explain medical or factual information. > Personal experience alone cannot represent the full spectrum of a disorder, so external research is necessary. Common disabilities and disorders: . Blindness . Deafness . ADHD . Autism (ASD) Other options: . Mutism/Selective mutism . Limb differences (Tripod, ALD) .
