I get up and turn to her, "How did you do? They were easy questions,right?" She nods, "Yeah...I...guess." Then she walks away to the opposite corner of me,looking down. I can read expressions really well,so I know she's feeling sad and disappointed. "Hey,what's wrong?" I ask. She stares at me for a second,a look of indecision on her face,as if wondering whether or not to talk to me. She then replies, "You know that question about what we want to do if we graduate from Kibo? Well,I think Ms.Heiwa's expecting us all to say we'd become mages and make the world a better place. I,on the other hand,said I would work on bringing fictional characters to real life." "Bringing fictional characters to real life? Is that even possible? There isn't an existing spell that can do that. As for a special talent,well...there aren't any either. Maybe she wants to create her own spell?" I think. To Yasushi I say, "Go on." "And that stupid teacher was like,'Why? Even if you can achieve creating a spell like that,what use is there? Fictional characters cannot be the same as us. They aren't real,after all.' " Yasushi says angrily,clenching her fist. "She even scolded me for bringing a childish doll to the exam! But my Chen is NOT childish! He is the best thing in the world." Her eyes grow dark, "No one says bad things about my Chen and gets away with it." "So she does have a completely different personality when she's mad." I note to myself in my head. "Yeah,I know how that feels." I tell her, "When we were talking,I felt like she was only acting nice. I think there's...more to her. Anyways,who's Chen?" Yasushi gives me an incredulous look, "You don't know? I thought you're Chinese. He's Chen Jun Nan from the series Ten Day Ultimatum." I shrug, "Sorry. Never heard of it. But it does seem like you love him very much. Is he the reason you want to make fictional characters real?" "Of course." She answers. Then she goes back to being her quiet,introverted self. After waiting for a while, Arina comes in. She had gotten the third highest score in the first exam(with my help,of course). She waves at me. "Hey,Firekle! That interview was easy peasy,wasn't it? Much easier than the first exam." "Glad to see you again too,Ari-ri. And yes,it was easy,but Ms.Heiwa honestly gives me a creepy-like feeling." "She does? I think she's really nice." Arina says,tilting her head. Then she notices Yasushi. "Oh,it's you! I remember you! You were sitting on the other side of Firekle during the first exam,right? Funny how we three all got the highest scores on the test." Yasushi gives her a look that looks like "I don't wanna talk" but she says, "Yea-yeah. I'm Na-natsu Yasu-yasushi." "Uhhh,are you just shy or what? You're stammering so badly it hurts my ears." After seeing Yasushi flinch, Arina teases, "Juuuuuuust kidding! Of course I don't think that. Please don't think I feel that way. Oh,and I'm Arina. Pleasure to meet you." Yasushi stays quiet,continuing to look down. The door to the waiting room suddenly opens. A professor comes in, "Firekle,Yasushi,and Arina? You three may leave for the camping site now. The third exam will start tomorrow at eight o'clock in the morning. If you are five minutes late,you will lose your spot in the exam. Good luck." She shuts the door with a wham. "Yasushi..." I trail off,looking at Arina. She knows exactly what I'm about to say, and nods approvingly. "Yasushi." I say more loudly. Yasushi jumps and stares at me in surprise. "Do you want to be in our team for the third exam? We'll need three people for that. It's alright if you don't want to though." Yasushi was staring at me with so much shock and relief in her eyes that I had to smile. "A-absolutely! I was worried that no one would want me on their team,and I was going to be left out. Thank you,you guys. I'll try my best tomorrow. I won't let you down." A determined look was on her face. Arina glimpses at the clock on the wall. "Since it's only five pm right now and we have so much time till morning, do you guys want to plan about how we can use our abilities to work together in combat?" Arina asks. Yasushi and I nod eagerly. Arina grins, "Then let's get to the camping site." Later...... The camping site contained about one hundred and seventy tents, all lined up in ten rows and seventeen columns. The colors of the tents ranged from blue,yellow,red,pink,green,purple,and orange. "We're gonna share a tent,right?" Arina asks,then answers her own question, "Well,obviously." "Pink! I caaaaall pink!" I shout,running to a pink tent and gesturing them to come over. (+)
(+) Arina sighs, "I prefer orange,but okay." "Heh. I'm just joking. Obviously I'd let you guys choose." I say, smiling. Arina lights up, "Really?! Then orange! Orange is the best color!" Yasushi looks reluctant to speak,but does anyway, "I like...blue. It's Chen's color." Arina turns to her,surprise that she had spoken,and also confusion about who Chen is,but tells her, "Well, whoever that is,he or she must bring you good luck! Sure,we'll sleep in a blue tent. Goodbye,sweet orange." She signs dramatically. "You don't have to. If you want orange, I'm okay with that too..." Yasushi gulps. "Nah. I like blue now." Arina replies, eyes sparkling. I smirk. She's definitely lying in a good way. "If you're sure,then..." Yasushi trails off,not knowing how to finish her sentence,then steps into the tent. The inside of the tent has three sleeping bags in them and a cute little table. On top of the table are three well-packaged boxes with rice,eggs,vegetables,and steak inside them. "That must be our dinner." I remark, "Looks yummy! But I'm not hungry now. Let's discuss strategy first,alright?" Arina and Yasushi agrees. I zip the tent door and plop down to the floor. "Sooooooo." I say in a sing-song tone, "Whaaaat are you guys' special talents?" "I can teleport." Arina replies,looking embarrassed, "But they're not accurate. I can't calculate the distance. I'm super bad at math. But it's okay, cause I don't even use teleportation during fights. My speed is the same as when I'm teleporting. Yep,that's how fast I am. Definitely not bragging." She demonstrates by teleporting in front of the table. It happens in the blink of an eye. "See? I aimed to teleport behind Firekle,but I didn't. That's how bad I am at this. But don't worry, I am super good at close combat." I clap, "Niiiiice. And don't worry,you don't have to be good at your special talent to excel at things. Anyways, is that it?" Arina nods, "Yep. I only have one special talent that I can't control. I don't even use it a lot anyway. I depend on my speed a lot more." Yasushi cuts in quickly, "Ni-nice talent,Ari-Arina. My talent...well...it's useless too,but not in the same way." Arina and I turn to her curiously. "Oh?" We both say. "I can make people happy by touching them." She says shyly, "It's not very useful." She asks my permission to demonstrate on me,and I nod. Yasushi stretches out her hand and her fingertips turn a radiant blue. She gives me a soft touch and immediately a strong tingle of excitement passes through my whole body. "Wow. I feel happiness within me,but because you told me about your power,I didn't give in to it. Feels nice though. How long does it last?" "Ten seconds." Yasushi replies. Sure enough,as soon as she finishes speaking,the tingle disappears. "This is amazing. And you call that useless? You could use that to distract enemies,or make them confused and give you a chance to run if you're ever in a bad situation."Arina compliments. Yasushi blushes, "T-thanks. I have another power,though. It's called 'the echo of happiness'. If I touch somebody when I activate this talent,their sadness,frustration,or pain will be replaced with happiness,and that feeling will be racing through me instead,adding to my pain." Yasushi says. I stare at her,speechless. Arina talks first, "Oh,wow.Wow.I don't know what to say. Have you used that power yet,Yasushi?" She nods, "Yes,a few times. I just can't stand to see other people suffer." "I completely understand. You're so selfless,Yasushi. I admire that trait in you. But don't you ever use it a lot. I can't bear to see you suffer too." I tell her seriously. "Me either." Arina adds, "You're really kind,Yasushi." Yasushi blushes again, "No-not really. But thanks." Arina swing around and turn to me, "You're last,Firekle. What special talent do you have? Or have you not unlocked it yet? If so,you're off even worse than me. I'm kidding,I'm kidding. Of course you unlocked it." Arina is joking around once again. "Hehe. My talent is not something you should ignore~" I grin and continue, "I can suck energy out of living things and give them to myself. Living things meaning humans, creatures, plants,animals. Stuff like that. But I won't demonstrate,and I don't use it a lot since the process gives you a lot of pain." "That's okay." Arina says, "I can endure a ton of pain. C'mon,try it on me." "Most certainly,definitely not." I reply,giving her a smirk, "I'm not joking,you know. It really DOES give you a lot of pain." "Mmm." That's all Yasushi say. "And my second power~" I say mysteriously, "Is~plunder~power! Meaning I can duplicate others' powers and use them for myself. Though it won't be as strong,and I have much less experience,so I can't use it as well as they do." Arina's mouth is wide open, "Huh?! That kind of power actually exists?! Can you demonstrate?" Even Yasushi looks a bit shocked,and her eyes are full of curiosity. "Sure." I answer Arina. I prepare to plunder her power. To Be Continued.......
