finally getting around to making my entry! I had no motivation until now sobs ---------------------------------------------- -Basic Info- ~Tiekan ~AFAB, They/Them ~Bisexual --------------------- -the actual story- Tiekan was born into a small, yet close knit group of Shynsiki. Of course, most of his fellow Shynsiki were freaked out by them because of their unnaturally dark coloration and void black eyes. Because of this, they weren't asked of much; heck, no one even wanted to hold a conversation with them! Tiekan, still being a cub at the time, was utterly perplexed. They had no clue why the others avoided them so much! Even the other cubs seemed afraid of him, they figured this out rather quickly when they attempted to interact with a older female. Well. She just seemed terrified. Being left alone by the other group members had its perks. Tiekan could venture much further than the other cubs their age, as there was no adult to tell them where they could or could not go. Slowly, as Tiekan aged, they became more bitter and detached to the other Shynsiki. They finally understood what they couldn't when they were younger. They were an unwanted member, a curse to the rest of the group. A burden to everyone. Tiekan, knowing this, ventured further than they'd ever gone. Heck, they sometimes left for days, and no one would notice, or care that they went missing. Each day, Tiekan's pent up bitterness and rage grew. On one of their travels, they noticed a few small birds. Well, this was nothing unusual, they'd seem plenty of birds before. They continued, but they'd keep seeing the strange birds. Confused, They tried feeding one of the birds with some fruit they found, hoping the birds would leave them alone if they fed them. Well. That might have just made it worse. The birds climbed all over them, curiously tugging on her feathers and even pecking her fur. Tiekan, annoyed yet resigned, continued her travels, with the birds. By the time they returned to their group, they had grown somewhat fond of the birds, who were more accepting of them than her entire group, naming the birds 'Tynvik' and 'Kasinata'. Though, the other Shynsiki weren't as accepting of the two birds as Tiekan was. Tiekan ignored the others taunts and hisses, keeping their two companions close. They did a splendid job of keeping their anger in check, yet they couldn't hold it in forever. One day, as a younger Shynsiki made a particularly scathing comment, they couldn't take it anymore. Without warning, they tackled him to the ground, digging their claws into the younger Shynsiki's fur. Of course, the other tried fighting back, but he was no match for older, much stronger Tiekan. The commotion alerted the other group members, who rushed over, upon seeing the scene, shoved Tiekan off of the male. Tiekan, not getting a moment to explain themself, was attacked by the other adults. Tiekan tried defending themself, yet they were eventually driven out of the group, along with their birds. Horribly injured, they limped as far as they could, not wanting to be caught by a member of their former group, until they couldn't anymore, retreating to the shelter of a cave. Tiekan stayed there for a while, letting their injuries heal, and picking up craftsmanship, designing themselves a few accessories. By then, their injuries had fully healed. They, and their two birds, continued their travels, sometimes picking up some trinkets that they had found on the way. They sometimes had conversations with other khelkans! It wasn't as bad as they initially thought, most others were much more friendly and accepting of them and their birds, unlike their former group. Tiekan had heard of a "Night Market" during one of these interactions, and being the curious creature they were, decided to investigate. At first, they were rather overwhelmed by the sheer number of khelkans in the night market. They'd never been in a area with so many creatures! Sure, Tiekan's old group had many Shynsiki, but it couldn't even compare to the number and diversity of khelkans here! And everyone seemed so friendly... they weren't used to this scene. Tynvik and Kasinata seemed just as nervous, the birds tugging on Tiekan's feathers more. Tiekan, undeterred by the birds attempts, ventured deeper. It all seemed so interesting! They managed to sell some of the trinkets they had gathered in their travels, leaving the market, satisfied. Tiekan revisited the night market regularly, it became a sort of comfort for them, They found a small, secluded stall to set up their growing collection of crafts and salvaged goods. Tynvik and Kasinata, too, adjusted. Instead of nervously preening Tiekan’s fur, they now perched on the edge of the stall, occasionally chirping happily at customers. The night market was now Tiekan's home, and the chatter of customers and their birds finally sounded like a life lived on their own terms. -end-
