Press the green flag to see the original art made by me Reflection: I made my notan design into a smiling cat. I think I did get quite an interesting design. I kind of had a vague idea of a cat face, and went with the flow to make this mirrored black and white cat. I think I did create a nice piece of art to look at, and I enjoy how it turned out. I decided to keep it simple and I made it in black and white. I think that with other colours I wouldn’t be able to show negative space as clearly, and it would turn into a generic cat image. By using negative space, artists can provide balance in their art, and make sure it isn’t right in your face, but also isn’t too subtle. I really enjoyed this project, because it made me think about negative space.
This was a project for art in school. Thank you Ms. Masrani, for giving us this project. I really enjoyed how it made me think about negative space. Notan design is a form of japanese art that uses negative space to create balance. Learn more here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notan
