The water lapped around his paws, stepping over rocks and piles of sand below the surface as he padded out to sea. The icicle cold spray coated his belly, the injury crossing it striking a pain up his chest, clawing at his throat. The water... it made him think of Turtlesmile. The cold... it made him think of Skyfall. It all around him rang a familiar tone Everything he loved Everything he lost Everything he sacrificed But was it all worth it? Did he make his life worth it? Falling. Falling. Falling. The pull of the tide was against him, fish out of sight. When he tried to turn away, to run home, he was trapped. Seaweed dragged him away, tangling around his paws and keeping him secured. Panic rose in his throat, the clawing chilliness of his wound nothing more than another piece of pain he was experiencing. Swimming made him tired. He hated swimming. UrchinClan cats were supposed to love swimming, right? Well, he supposed that was one of the things he had never liked He preferred searching the beaches Chasing seabirds for endless hours From dawn until dusk The sands were what he called home Sinking. Sinking. Sinking. Water held tight around his throat. He gasped in a final breath, the tides taking him below the surface. His vision was growing blurry, his focus was dwindling He tried to gather all of his strength He tried to swim up He tried He tried He tried Whenever he thought he was safe, the currents would drag him under once more A never ending game Death taunted him But it wasn't like he was scared When he watched the light of the surface slowly fade, a smile crossed his face He. Smiled. With death so close, he felt afraid But the warm embrace allowed him to ignore the pain Dying. Dying. Dying. Oleanderlament would no longer be there to give a smile He would no longer be there to protect his children But he figured he did good, he survived this much longer And finally, he could be free.
