Here is a guide on the species of The Dulcet Archives. While this roleplay is heavily inspired by Dungeons and Dragons and other fantasy stories, these species will not be accurate to any other piece of media, as they have been turned into more canidae creatures. Please note that any mutations that a species’ real life counterpart can receive will need research if they are applied to a character. (ex. albinism, protruding fangs, etc.) ____ CATS Cats replace humans in this universe. They are quite self-explanatory, and are probably the most diverse species. They have no restrictions design-wise, except for the fact that your character MUST have natural fur colors, regardless of species. I will be far more lenient regarding fur patterns. They should be in-between 7 and 15 inches. ____ ELF Elves are more fox-based, as they share the triangular face, pointed ears, narrow snout, bushy tail, and more traits. Elves have noticeable ridges in the outer ear, similar to bats, that help them to focus with more precise echolocation, filtering, and more. Yes, they have echolocation, as most live and originate in Allormir. Fur length and growth are deeply significant in their culture, as it represents longevity, commitment and purity. Cutting it is said to be disrespectful and bad luck. Additionally, elves who are caught committing a crime can have their fur cut off. Purity and commitment is also very important culture-wise. Please note that elves in this universe are NOT a sub-species of foxes, and the comparison is simply used for anatomical purposes. The same is said for every other species listed. ____ DWARFLINGS Dwarflings, in this universe, include halflings, gnomes, and dwarfs. They are more dog-based, as they have adopted traits from specifically the Bernese Mountain Dog, such as their broad chests, strong legs, and typically V-shaped ears. Dwarflings have a glowing paint that they apply to their fur to make certain patterns — it is both apart of their culture and practical, as it is believed that most dwarflings originate from Allormir. Typically, after they reach a milestone, they adorn their fur with more and more accessories and trinkets. Remembrance and memories are often celebrated. ____ TIEFLINGS Tieflings are inspired by painted wolves. They have large rounded ears, long legs, and specialized teeth for tearing bone. Tieflings have horns. They are mainly used for defense and to intimidate others, although the blood vessels in their horns help regulate their temperature. Tiefling culture is diverse because of their history. They have often lived on the outskirts of feline-dominated societies. Despite such, it has been a growing trend for tieflings to decorate their horns during festivities, such as parties or festivals. ____ HYBRIDS Hybrids can ONLY be half-feline. This means there are no tiefling-dwarfling hybrids, tiefling-elf hybrids, etc. But what if a tiefling and dwarfling (and similar) reproduce? It will result in either species, but not both. ____ If you have any questions regarding the species, please let me know. Art by More will come soon, I'm just getting burnt out :,D
