A Mormon is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), we r a religious group that is basically christian but differs in several key ways from most mainstream Christian denominations. We believe in Jesus Christ and use the Bible, but we also follow additional scriptures such as the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price. The LDS Church was founded by Joseph Smith in the 19th century, who claimed to restore the original Christian church through divine revelation and is regarded by Mormons as a modern prophet. Unlike most Christians, who believe in the Trinity (three persons in one God), we view God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost as three separate beings. We also believe our church holds restored priesthood authority and is led by living prophets who receive ongoing revelation. Additionally, our beliefs about salvation involve a combination of faith in Christ, repentance, baptism, and good works, and their teachings about the afterlife include a three-tiered heaven and the possibility of progression after death. While we share many core beliefs with other Christians, these unique scriptures, doctrines, and church practices set us apart from other branches of Christianity
