You can skip any questions you want. Remix to answer. Q1. How did you discover the therian community? I was watching Pocari Roo (around 6 years ago), and she mentioned otherkin. I looked it up, discovered both it and therianthropy, thought it was cool but I wasn't one, and continued what I was doing. Eventually I figured out I was otherkin and a therian XP Q2: What made you realize you were a therian? A: I saw a leopard eel and knew it was me. Q3: How did you find out your theriotypes? A: Leopard eel was answered in the last question; both wolves because I had been getting a lot of wolf dysphoria, euphoria, instincts, thoughts, and behaviors, and I looked at photos of arctic and northwestern wolves and knew that they were me; and the cats because I get a lot of cat instincts, behaviors, euphoria, dysphoria, thoughts, and have known for years that I'm some type of feline. I spent a long time ruling out felines I could be until I figured out I'm most (but not all) wild cats. Q4: What are your most common animalistic urges? A: Howling. Q5: Are there any songs that make you shift or you associate with your therianthropy? What are they? A: Quite a few! Wolves of the Revolution by The Arcadian Wild, Things that Make it Warm by Cavetown, Howl by Florence and the Machine, and some others which I can't be bothered to list. Q6: How much of your life is affected by being a therian? A: It's quite affected, but that's mostly because it's one of my strong interests and because I'm a manager of the 2 most active therian studios. Not that much of it is directly affected by my therianthropy, though. Q7: What do you believe the cause of your therianthropy is? A: Unsure, and I don't really care about finding out tbh. It just isn't important to me. Q8: Do you want therians to be well-known in the mainstream or not? A: Probably not, at least not right now. We have enough problems with misinfo and hate as we are. Q9: If you shift, do you enjoy it? If you don't shift, how do you feel about not shifting? A: I shift, and I don't have strong feelings about it. I guess I enjoy most shifts, though? Q10: Do you ever feel imposter syndrome related to being a therian? A: Rarely. I used to get it a lot more than I do now. Q11: How long did it take you to find out you're a therian? How long did it take to find your theriotypes? A: It took me about half a year from when I found out about therianthropy to figure out I was one. It took 2-3 years for the wolves (I figured out I was an arctic wolf first, then around a week later I figured out I was a grey northwestern wolf), and 5 years for the cats. Q12: Are you any other alterhuman label? What is it? A: Otherkin, transspecies, voidpunk, plural, otherhearted, fictionkin, cambikin, schrodikin, and probably something else I forgot. Q13: What is something you wish other therians would stop doing? A: Spreading so much misinfo, the ableism towards psychotic non-humans, fakeclaiming everyone, and saying everyone who doesn't have the exact same experience of them isn't a therian, among other things. Q14: What's your favorite and least favorite thing about being a therian? A: My favorite thing is just the experience of being non-human, I guess. My least favorite thing about the community is the misinfo. My least favorite thing about my experience of it is annoying instincts, I guess.
Q15: What misconception about therianthropy do you believe is the most harmful to the community? A: Hard choice! Probably "therians cannot identify physically as their theriotypes and involuntary physical identification as an animal doesn't make you a therian", because it tends to turn into ableism against clinical zoanthropes, endels, and people who experience delusions in general. Q16: Have you ever read a therian story? How did you feel about it? If not, would you ever do it? A: I've read a few. I've never really gotten into them, though. Q17: If you were given the chance to turn into your theriotypes, would you take it? A: Fully turning into any of my theriotypes? No. Partially turning into some of them (having digigrade legs and paws, ears, a tail, or fur, etc.)? Maybe. Q18: Does being a therian affect your personality? If so, how? A: Maybe? I don't think so. Q19: What do you like to do to feel connected to your theriotypes? A: Acting like them, wearing gear and having it around me, listening to nature sounds, being outside, etc. Q20: Do you have any less traditional gear that isn't masks, tails, paws, etc? A: Most of my gear is less traditional! Stuff like blankets, fake leaves, clothing, etc. Q21: What's your favorite and least favorite thing about being in a human body? A: Favorite is opposable thumbs, least favorite is cramps. Q22: Does therianthropy affect your mental health? A: Maybe? It's definitely affected by my mental health, but I'm not sure if it affects it. Q23: If you could take one physical trait from one of your theriotypes which would you pick? A: Wolf ears. Everything else would probably be impractical (though arctic wolf legs and paws would be amazing) Q24: Do you get any cravings for food that your theriotype eats specifically because it's your theriotype? A: Maybe? Probably not. Q25: If somebody was questioning if they were a therian, what advice or information would you give to them? A: Don't just look at cats, foxes, dogs, coyotes, and wolves, or even just mammals. You could be a bird or a fish or an insect. Dreams are also very unreliable as a method, and you can have an animal past life without being a therian, and vice versa. Questions by @SockAlternative Answers by me
