~ Keithie Is Typing... --~ Welcome Back To My Scratch Profile! The time has finally come!~-- ~ So i already mentioned that I was spending SEVERAL days making a Demon Slayer (Kimetsu No Yaiba) OC, and I was telling the truth, I made good on the promise.~ ~ Why?: Because about a week ago, I was on Instagram posting my recent art pieces. And it went pretty well. Until Someone (a professional artist) DM'ed Me After Seeing My Art. And They gave me Premium access to an art app called 'krita.' Premium access means you have EVERY art feature unlocked and so many other things. As soon as I opened the app, I was indeed feeling pretty overwhelmed with the amount of tools. But I decided: Why not challenge myself to spend 5 weeks making an anime piece, but with a twist?: Make A Kimetsu No Yaiba OC Anime piece. So I started working on it. And first, I planned a SKETCH. I've never done anime, anything like this before (:o) but i'm not the person that gives up easily. So I sketched out the body position, the sword, the head, the body, legs, pretty much everything. Afterwards, I sketched the body underneath the clothes, FINALLY, I sketched clothes over the body, and erased my previous sketch lines so I have room to work with. So I pressed 'settings', + 'Dockers', + 'Layers', and I named the layer "SKETCH", and you can guess I did the sketch and clothes with the 'pencil' tool at the top. (yes, I use a drawing tablet to draw digitally, The Verizon Galaxy Tab E.) And then I made a new layer, and I named it 'Linework', this was probably the scariest and most nerve-racking part. But yet really satisfying. I selected the 'pen' tool in the 'drawing supplies' icon drop-down box, and then I changed the color to 'black', (always use red lines for the body sketch, blue for the clothes [when it comes to a sketch layer with pencil'), and Then I re-traced the pencil-sketch lines i've previously used to sketch out the OC. By the end of Day 1 & 2, all i've finished was half of the tracing, because my lines are barely on-point. By Day 6, I was ready to get out of my comfort zone and face my fears. Because i've finished the Pen 'Linework' Layer. Again, I clicked the Dockers in the settings to show the layers, and I created a new one: naming it 'Colors'. So I spent over 2 weeks coloring the drawing. And by the 4 (and a half) week, I spent the last 5 days blending (shading) the OC using the color-theory (and I made a layer for it, changing the opacity to '25%'), and then by the final day of the OC finish, i've made a 'background' layer (and it went to the BACK of the drawing), and I made the background black. after 5 weeks of sweat, My horrible Drawing Stylus, My Tablet, Headaches, drawing, coloring, blending, and hand cramps: This drawing was the result. I've had questions on DeviantArt this morning about the drawing, so i'm gonna answer Those Questions in the 'notes and credits.' ~ ~ But before I answer the questions, I want to thank you guys for 100+ followers, you guys have seriously changed my life, and I am BEYOND grateful. So to get back to you guys, I have a challenge: I want you guys to make a Demon Slayer OC yourselves (it can be on paper or digital) and I want you to save the image to your files, and then make a project and label it "Mango's Art Contest (<your name>'s perspective)", and then put the link to the project in the comments. Whoever wins will earn a free PFP drawing made by yours truly. Thank you guys for your support, and lets get to the questions! ~
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS: Question 1 - "In Krita, What is the 'layers' for?" Answer: Well, Layers are used in most digital art to help with the correct proportions, like colors, Sketch, fine lines, linearts, etc.. Layers are useful for coloring without the 'paint-fill' tool. If you don't want to color OVER your lineart, simply add a new layer, name it 'colors' or anything you want, and then usually, you'd be able to drag the layer UNDER the linework layer, and then you'd color UNDER the lineart (which helps you stay inside the lines and not over them). BUT, in Krita (for mobile) you have to press 'settings', and then 'dockers', and then 'layers', and then press the plus to add a new layer, double tap the name to re-name it, and then press the up or down arrow (on screen) to change where the layer is put (back or front layers). Hope that helps! :) Question 2 - "How do you draw anime?" Answer: Well, anime isn't very complicated, depending on how complex and intermediate the anime drawing IS - but its actually very simple, and you just need practice. I don't really have much tips on how to draw anime, but I do know two tips: one: Learn SKETCHING anime before you learn how to finish an anime piece. and Two: If you're gonna do shading and lighting, learn how to shade objects on paper first. remember the shading theory by daVinci; Shadows are placed when lights are casted in a certain direction. Shadows are darker when there is less light, and are lighter when there is more light. But DIGITALLY, you need a 'blending' layer with low opacity, and then make sure the shadows ARE a darker color than the color of a part of a drawing is; use the eyedrop tool, and make that same color darker. And use the shadow theory, And Boom, you can blend/shade. Final Question - "How long have you been drawing anime?" Answer: There isn't really a way to go about how long i've been drawing anime. But I was inspired to draw anime by watching Dragon Ball Z, I was astounded by the style. So by 2023, I began my Anime Journey. Hope that helps! Art App: Krita #art
