This Scratch project is a part of a story series. You can read the story down below in the "Notes and Credits". Updates on Tuesdays & Fridays!
{Setting: Crisis City, The Hedgehog’s Home Base} Silver: *somewhat lowers his quills* …are we not going to…see him again after he dies? Florence: . . . *has a thoughtful expression. Her eyes gaze about as she releases a huff. An unsure smile forms as she shrugs* …I…I don’t know, Silver. I’ve read too many books to count looking for that answer. No one knows for sure what happens when we die. We may never see him again, or maybe when we die, there’ll be a place we’ll go to where we’ll be able to be with him. *rests her hand on Silver and strokes his quills* Silver: …mmh… *covers his face* Florence: …but Silver, what I do know is that he’s still here right now. I understand that it’s hard to be around him, and that how he looks and feels is not the way you want your Father to be, but it’s still him. *pleading tone* Please Silver, I know it isn’t easy, but remember what I asked of you before. Spend time with your Father…while he IS here with us. Silver: . . . *glances at his Mother again* … *slowly uncurls, and crawls over to Florence with a somber face* Florence takes him into her arms and holds him close. She rests her cheek on his head as he curls up against her, gripping onto her dress and sniffling. Standing up, she walks over to the door frame and brings Silver back into the room. Silver shivers anxiously as he feels Venice’s aura come close to him again, but he manages to peer out at his Father. Venice has remained lying in the same spot, his eyes shut with his turquoise aura weaving around him, illuminating the room along side the light of a single candle on the side table. Turning himself towards Venice as Florence brings him close, Silver freezes up for a second as she sets him on the bed, but he soon crawls over to his Father. Venice: Hm…? *his eyes slightly open and try to glance over in Silver’s direction* Silver: *grimaces as his throat tightens, but he lies down by Venice and curls up against him* Venice: *makes an uncertain expression* Silver: *carefully rests his hand on Venice’s as tears well up in his eyes* Venice: … *turns his hand to where Silver’s rests in his palm, then grasps his son’s hand* Florence comes up beside them and lies to where her head is close to Venice’s, and Silver is between the two of them. The couple nuzzle one another, then rest with their faces pressed together, as Silver adjusts to lie against Venice’s chest. His Father’s arm comes around him. Silver: *sniffles and keeps wiping his eyes* “I love you, Silver.” Silver: ?! *perks up at the strange echo of his Father’s voice. He glances at Venice’s face.* Venice: … “Thank you for being here with me. I am sorry I scared you.” Silver squints in confusion, his ears flicking about as he still hears his Father’s voice, but he doesn’t see his mouth move. He ponders this for a moment, then realizes… Silver: ! *softly gasps then whispers* Telepathy… Florence: Hm? *peers at Silver* Silver: *shuts his eyes and focuses, then his aura comes over his head* “I love you too, Father.” Venice: ! … *cracks a smirk* “You always surprise me with how fast you figure out new abilities. I am proud of you, Silver.” “I’m sorry for being scared of you…” “It is okay, I am scared too.” “Huh? No you’re not. You’re never scared.” “As much as I understand the feeling of being scared, I think I am scared right now. I think I always feel fear when I do not know what is going to happen to those I care about. But, I do feel less afraid knowing that you are very smart, that you are strong, and that you have a good heart. I know you will be okay, even when I am gone, and will not be there to protect you.” Silver: ! … *loses focus as he chokes up and tears run down his face* Silver grabs onto Venice in a tight hug, and his Father’s arms come around him again. Florence tears up as well and leans closer to put her arm over Silver too. The small flame lets out a crackle as the wax of the candle keeps melting. Silver dozes off on Venice’s chest, while Venice and Florence remain awake. Florence has a thoughtful look while Venice blankly is gazing at the ceiling. Florence: *whispers* I guess…it’ll be any day now. Venice: … *his head glows again as he speaks with her telepathically as well* “I think I am ready for whenever Iblis will reappear.” Florence: Ah…you “think”? Venice: . . . *lets out a small huff as his brow furrows* Florence: Hm? What’s the matter? Venice: … “I heard you talking to Silver…and I admit I had not considered…that I do not know what happens when someone dies. All I understand is that they are…gone. Is it true that no one knows?” Florence: *snuggles closer to him* …it depends on what someone believes. Some say when we die, that’s it. We cease to exist. Once our body decays, there’s nothing left of us aside from the people and things we left behind. Venice: “The concept of…non-existence is hard to understand.” Florence: Yes…it’s strange to wrap your head around.
