We've finally reached it. Electro Version 4 is officially here, after years of being a (cough cough-) recolor. There is a lore explanation why Electro goes through this visual change. After the events of Sonic Upcoming Brawl, the first arc of Electro's story, Fyron The Wispon Warrior operates on Electro to give him an "Advancement Procedure". Fyron added cybernetic enhancements to his body, the gold spikes and accessories are not gold, they're "Electrum" Gold is not magnetic nor conducts electricity, electrum does, very well actually, and it has a gold-like color. Those enhancements help him control his electricity way better and they stabilize the amount of energy is used aswell as what type of energy it is. These enhancements don't make him physically stronger, the Electrum help Electro use his electric powers more effectively, boosting it's energy usage for him to overcome obstacles and opponents much easier.
