This was written by a good friend of mine, thank you Sabina! I will not be debating ab0rtion here, that is not the purpose of the project and I will delete comments that are anti ab0rtion. I am pro choice at any stage of pregnancy. if you have questions about that, you’re free to ask. Before I start, I’d like to remind everyone that Trump has openly admitted to SA and SH, and has been found civilly liable for such things before. And I’d like to pose the question of, “if this man has been proven to strip women of their autonomy, why do we want him influencing the laws around and the accessibility of such autonomy?” I’m trying to make this as easy to understand as possible, so I’ll write a list of the things that Trump has done to limit reproductive rights. - cut all grants UNPFA (United Nations Population Fund) despite this congress allocating 607.5 million dollars to the cause. so what? this means that over 47 million people will lose access to and will be denied things like birth control. this affects women and their partners. the result of this is that there will be around 17.1 million unplanned pregnancies, and approximately 34,000 preventable maternal deaths, - cut funding and staffing of health organizations doing HIV research and focusing on women’s health (PEPFAR and the CDC’s maternal and child health branch) so what? PEPFAR has indisputably prevented HIV related deaths and the CDC makes sure that women who are at the risk of HIV or are HIV positive are treated. - cut funding to world health surveys in over 90 countries so what? This limits the capabilities for world leaders to figure out the health, population, and nutrition needs and create policies based on the data. Trump also made the decision to destroy almost 10 million dollars worth of birth control meant to reach low income countries, preventing the contraceptives from reaching about 650,000 women that would’ve lasted an entire year. For someone so anti ab0rtion, he seems to be intent on preventing birth control.
