Annican sighed and began packing for the observatory first his waterbottle, then a stash of chocolate he kept far away from his parents, he packed his spring jacket and his phone before slinging his backpack over his shoulder and calling down the stairs “Guys! I'm ready to go!” He then walked down the creaky wooden stairs, his every step making an ear-splitting creak. Once he got downstairs he saw his dad, James, still sitting at the table. “Dad, can we go now?” His dad looked at him with that same smile “sure” Annican ignored the smile and called for Everett, who came immediately, plopping Annican's ball cap onto his head. “Woo! We're going to see some birds!”
Annican waved goodbye and said “I'll take my car, Everett can you come with me?” He asked. He wanted to be away from James' sickening smile. “Sure” Annican slipped into the driver's seat in his brand new convertible that he bought, after all, he was 18. His father slid into the seat beside him. “Buckled?” Annican asked “yup” Everett replied, and they didn't talk the whole way there. They spent a whole of four hours there before Annican insisted that he needed his rest for the next day. James had that unsettling smile the whole time. Annican spent a whole hour there with the Falcons. Learning about them since he was to have a pet falcon soon. They got funnel cake as his birthday cake. Then, in both what felt like a blink of an eye and an eternity, they were back at their home. “This was a great day. Thank you guys!” Annican said mostly to Everett, yet James was the one to respond. “Glad you had a good day, get into bed so that you can be prepared for tomorrow, you're going to be waking up early” Annican rolled his eyes then said “I know, I suggested it” James' blue gaze locked on him. “Then do it” “that's what I'm doing” “good” Annican walked up the stairs, anger mixing with excitement, he was going tomorrow! Why did his dad have to be so annoying and… and weird! And the Smiling! Why! He sighed. At least he wouldn't have to deal with him anymore soon. He was leaving. For the lost ones academy!
