~ { ⯌ } ~ The Queen of Hearts steps through the garden. She glares at the three card-shaped soldiers you just met, the ones who were painting the roses red. “OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!“ she shouts. then the Queen whips her head around to look at you. “And who are you, little girl?” she asks. “I’m not quite sure,” you reply. “I’m very sorry.” “Would you like to play croquet with me?” You are taken aback by this, but it sounds better than being beheaded, and you fear that might happen if you refuse. “Alright,” you say. You follow the Queen of Hearts through a winding maze that opens out into a sprawling lawn. The card-soldiers scramble across the grass and bend so that their bodies create arches for the game. The Queen snaps her fingers, and a guard brings her two flamingos and two hedgehogs. She sets the poor spiky animal on the ground and wacks it across the field with the flamingo as a club. The hedgehog rolls beneath several soldiers before coming to a stop.
