Okay, I'm just gonna say, I don't hate AI. This is a very controversial topic, but I think it's a great thing, as it's helped me a lot. There are also specific AI's that have been programmed to do things like detect cancer, which I find amazing. In the future, stuff like this is definitely gonna help us a lot. Then there's the case of generative AI. I'm going to be honest, not all generative AI is bad either, considering how many kids would've failed the grade already at my school without using it. But when people use AI to make what looks like art and claim it as their creation, that's what just doesn't sit right with me. There's nothing gained. No skills, nothing new learned. All you have to do is go pick up a pencil, make a random scribble or two, and build off of that. You could even go outside and pick up a random stick and just draw in the dirt. When you do that, you're using your imagination to make something that's truly yours. I only addressed this because of yet another issue: 'ragebaiting'. Honestly, just why? I asked two users who were doing it: "do you get some sort of satisfaction out of doing this to users who didn't ask for someone to deliberately provoke them?" To which they replied "yes" and "that's the point." I just don't see why someone would feel obligated to go out and decide to 'test people's wits' by commenting rude things repeatedly just to get a raise out of them, and to see if they're 'smart enough' to know if it's ragebait. One of the users I mentioned earlier actually admitted later on that it wasn't ragebait, they were just being plain rude. I know nothing's perfect, and that yes, there are trolls on every website no matter what. But this still isn't right. My main reason I actually did this project wasn't to talk about AI, but to address how toxic the community has gotten. Please, guys. Just remember to think before you send something. Be kind.
art by me, per usual character is ze scratch cat cuz yes sorry y'all, I just felt like ranting. idc if you agree or not, but the second half is more important. I'm not gonna say much on why I closed my profile comments, but I will say that it's related to this. Please don't pry any further, thanks.
