Lack of Education ╽ Not Assertive in Daily Life ╿ Closed off >> PERSONALITY << With strangers, Kadek is quiet and receptive 99% of the time. He does not often speak, and when he does, it seems he does so begrudgingly. He’s not home a lot as he immerses himself in his work, dedicated to “repaying” the family that has taken him in. He is very loyal to them, and they are the roots in his life. Family is very important to Kadek. Kadek’s love language is affirmed through his actions. He often expresses his affections by doing helpful or thoughtful tasks, whether it be bringing home his little “sister’s” favorite treat or helping a neighbor move furniture. This is partially because in his past life, communication occurred through actions rather than words. In this life, he has not really picked up on the nuances of verbal communication. Kadek is fairly decent at written language for his lack of education, but he’s not good at expressing himself verbally. Kadek prefers physical jobs. His chosen family attempted to give him whatever education they could afford, however Kadek never quite took to school and dropped out before his high school education, preferring to join the workforce early instead. He worked many different jobs before he settled on being a bounty hunter, particularly settled on catching those cruel to other living beings. He does not spare them the same patience he has with everyone else. He is ruthless, quick to “pounce” on those who live lives as equally inhumane as the poachers that took his sister. Kadek is very observative and therefore can come across as judgmental. However, he does not hold anyone to a standard, but rather recognizes their flaws and talents objectively. However, this often comes across as cold or calculated rather than a genuine way of understanding others. Kadek is a good listener, but he is clueless when it comes to consolation or advice. He is very logical and practical and often fails to understand people’s emotional reasons for doing things. Kadek is not religious, but he enjoys folklore and the remembrance of his sister in his past life. He often does little things to honor her, with no other spirits in his life, he feels quite alone when it comes to such things. He is not quite fond of the humanoid qualities in his appearance (he’s quite insecure of his looks and lacks confidence,) and will often shapeshift into his original form at home. He is very guarded about who sees him in his tiger form, as his tigerish qualities in his daily appearance get him odd looks around town. At heart, Kadek is a very patient and loyal person. Once you’ve earned his trust, he will begin to open up. He can be quite the tease towards those he loves and he’s surprisingly gentle as well. Despite the loss of his sister, Kadek’s playful soul can never truly be erased. Kadek has a very closed worldview in the way that he only cares about himself and his family. He does not often take well to criticism or change because he is particular about the way things get done. >> BACKSTORY << Kadek remembers his past life quite vividly. He holds such memories close, as to cherish the pleasant moments and to never forget the bad ones. If he tries hard enough, he can relish in his past life, as if it just happened. Maybe because it was short, maybe because he relives it in his dreams…his nightmares. He’ll never truly know. All he knows is that he wishes it didn’t end the way it did. Kadek grew up at peace in the depths of the jungles of Indonesia. There, the tigers were the royalty of the forest – food and water was plentiful. Life was simple, careless. The tigers lazed in rivers, played rough games of wrestling, hunted all the prey they could ask for.
cont. Kadek’s mother was a gentle thing. She was known for her patience with her cubs, for her agility when stalking prey. She protected her little family for as long as she lived, though Kadek would never quite know much life she had left to live after his passing. She was graceful: she taught Kadek and his sister everything they knew. A mother many would envy. Now, Kadek (his name meaning “second-born”) was not his mother’s only child. Kadek’s whole life revolved around his sister Kirana. She was older than him, his mother’s firstborn child. A fierce tiger, relentless in her search for land to explore, with the same patience as her mother. Kirana was the light of Kadek’s life. Kadek looked up to her more than anyone else, and they were inseparable. They did everything together. Snuck off together, ate together, caused mischief together… Once, their mother had to fish them out of a stream. God knows how she kept track of them. And so, the three of them lived in peace for months. Their jungle was a safe-haven for their kind, and they lived in elation, blissfully unaware of what was to come. One morning, the energy in the jungle changed. The animals could tell. Suddenly, the boars and the civets, the birds and the monkeys didn’t fear the tigers. They feared something else. Something unfamiliar. Something far deadlier. The poachers from the west were ruthless. These were not like the researchers that once came to study them. These humans were different. Bold and brash in the way they talked… Kadek couldn’t understand them, but he knew there was no respect for the jungle’s harmony in their tone. They had not a care for the life his mother had built. In fact, they only brought forth pain. Terror. They took everything new and exotic to them without hesitation. The civets. The birds. The monkeys. Even the tigers. They killed Kirana first. They didn’t even have the decency to throw her in a cage and keep her alive to be some circus puppet or a specimen to keep eyes on. They killed her in front of Kadek’s eyes. In front of their own mother’s eyes. Kadek was never the same cub again. Not even in his reincarnation. Kadek’s mother tried her best to get her son out of harm’s way. But it was no use. Kadek was murdered shortly after Kirana was. What happened to his mother, he’d never know. That was what ate at him the most. He’d never know if she was free or captive, alive or dead. The reincarnation was disorienting. He had no knowledge of what was happening to him. He didn’t know he could shift forms, that his spirit and soul wasn’t mortal. Of course he didn’t – he had only been a cub when he died. He came to Ketumati in the form of a Hantu Belian. A child, maybe 9 or 10. He was left to wander, disoriented and afraid. He resented his humanistic features. In the mirror, he saw the monsters that killed his family. He wasn’t left alone for long. He was taken in by a family who lived in a small house. They were grieving the loss of their own firstborn, all while another was on the way. Kadek was of consolation to them: a distraction, a helping hand around the house. The family grew to cherish Kadek, even in his silent shyness. And he grew to cherish them, working hard to help them sustain themselves, caring for their newborn when she finally arrived. She was like a little sister to him, and in himself, he saw Kirana’s qualities. From then on, he swore to protect her and others from those with no care for human life. And thus Kadek went from being the hunted to the hunter. >> INVENTORY << PHONE This is how Kadek keeps in contact with his family and gets notified about bounty hunting offers. It’s not much, and it’s a little janky, but he’s content with it. BIRD CALL A small, wooden object Kadek keeps on him at all times, often strung onto a necklace. A good luck charm, given to him by his “grandmother.” There are no birds in Ketumati, but one day he hopes to see them again. DAGGER (& HANDCUFFS) For his bounty hunting, in case he can’t handle a target on his own. A simple thing, quite effective, the handle carved out of an ivory-colored material. A feather is strung onto the handle. SEWING NEEDLE/THREAD Kadek sews when bored. He often sews together his own mismatched clothes and mends the family’s clothes. . . . there's more but im tired ill add it later *btw this is his canon lore and not his lore for any rps i might put him in on here
