THIS IS NOT INTENDED TO BE SPECIFICALLY RELIGIOUS. I like the idea of Chanukah, light banishing darkness, so even if you are not Jewish, you can still appreciate this poem. (It is the last night of Chanukah tonight.) Photo is not mine. As always, comments are appreciated.
Eight nights of light One more candle every day Until tonight This last night When there are eight little candles plus one more Burning through the darkness Flickering Glimmering Warming the room Anyone outside can see it We are here And we will shine brightly Like these flames We will banish evil We will be joyous And warm And kind And let our lights shine For when two flames come together It creates more light Instead of diminishing the one already there Be bright And glow And spread warmth Throughout the world Like these tiny candles In a row On these eight nights
