This is my Christmas Writing Contest 2025 Entry. N/A {} Polar Express {} A Christmas Carol {} Whatever you want i don't mind {} Hot chocolate{}
I suddenly woke up as I heard *a train* outside. I ran to my window and peeked out. Those tracks hadn't been there before! I jumped off my bed, nearly knocking over the *hot chocolate* on my bedside table. I ran out my room and down the stairs. I looked into the living room. Santa had already came. I was curious and went to look at *a large green box*. It was for me. I knew it was from my parents and not really Santa. I don't believe in that baby stuff. I remembered why I had left my bed in the first place. I ran out the house into the freezing cold just as the train stopped in front of my house. I watched as the driver hopped out of the train and pulled out *a pocket watch* mumbling, "Right on time." I realized I was in my *pajamas*. I was so cold. "Well, kid. Looks like you need a coat." The driver handed me a blue coat. I gratefully put it on and stuffed my hands in the pockets but the coat had *a ripped pocket*. That wouldn't help warm my hand. I kept staring at the train as the driver was about to get back on. "Well...you coming?" I looked over at the driver. Taking one little ride couldn't hurt? I hopped into a passenger car. It was empty except for one other kid. A boy. He looked to be my age. The boy waved me over. "Hey! This seat isn't taken" He shouted as he gestured to the seat across from him. I sat down, curious and confused. "Here. This is *a very important ticket*. If you don't have it, you'll get kicked off the train." I took the ticket he handed me. Just then, the driver came in holding *a hole puncher*. "Tickets please!" the driver shouted. Me and boy handed him out tickets. After the driver collected our tickets, he left and the train started moving. "So, what's you name?" I asked, hoping to start a conversation. "Call me Floyd." "Floyd?" "Yeah, what about you?" I looked at him for a moment, still a little confused and now wary since Floyd couldn't be his actual name. But in the end I decided I should be fine. "Um, I'm Nora." "Nice to meet you Nora." He stuck out his hand. How old timey. But I shook his hand anyway. "Uh, nice to meet you too." I couldn't stop staring into his chocolate brown eyes. His hair matched and he had freckles on his face. They were faint but they were there. He didn't seem to mind the eye contact. I looked down and realized I was still holding onto his hand, and quickly pulled it away. "Sorry." Why did I just apologize?! I never apologize! This is so weird. "Nah, it's fine." Floyd replied nonchalantly. Later we came to a stop. "Is this our stop?" I asked, looking out of the window. We were in the middle of nowhere and it looked like a snowy blizzard outside. "No, It's only the driver and fireman working on this train so they stop occasionally to take a break and bring refreshments and snacks." I nod, pretending to understand. I know nothing about trains. However my little brother loves them. The driver came into the car and brought us some *sock-infused tea* and some scones. After the driver left and the train started, Floyd started eating the scones and drinking his tea. I hated tea. "Bleh. You can have my tea if you want." I handed him my tea and he thanked me. What was this boy doing to me. First he got me to apologize without me saying anything, now he got me to share, again without saying anything. I ate some scones until the train screeched to a stop. I glanced up at the emergency break. I knew those were used when there was need of *an emergency stop*. "Is this our stop?" I asked once more when I looked out the window and saw *a frozen path*. "No, but let's get off." We got off the train and followed the frozen path and the train drove off. "Wait, but how will I get back home?" "Don't worry." Floyd said. "How can I not worry?!" I screeched at him. "Calm down. Take this." He handed me *a silver bell*. "How will this help me calm down?!" I kept shouting at him, though he stayed calm. *"Believe"* Floyd looked up into the sky at *a giant star*. Floyd looked down at a watch on his wrist that I had never noticed before and he looked surprised. "What?! *It was five minutes to midnight four minutes ago?!"* Floyd looked at me with wide eyes. "Ok, whenever you need help, ring this bell and help will come." "What?" I asked, very confused. "Heed my words and follow that giant star home. Go!" I didn't want to but my feet carried me down the path, following the giant star. I looked back but Floyd wasn't there.
