˗ˏˋ ♡ ˎˊ˗ "Who does that Astrid girl think she is?" Aurelia sighed, stabbing at a piece of filet mignon with her fork, as if it had personally wronged her. Her and her friends were seated at the Slytherin table, as per the usual welcoming feast. The Great Hall buzzed with excitement, with the first years talking nervously and the rest slipping easily back into routine. "Oh I knew you would say that!" Daphne laughed, glancing up from her plate with her eyebrows arched. "But no, seriously, we've only been back for 10 minutes and she's acting as if she belongs everywhere. Which she doesn't, by the way," Daphne added, taking a sip from her pumpkin juice. Pansy leaned in abruptly, just missing the end of Daphne's sentence. Her features resembled that of a pug, which Draco mentioned anytime he got. "Well I think it's obvious what she wants," she announced, to no one in particular, and way too loud for Aurelia's comfort. "Riiight," Daphne said, biting the inside of her lip to stop herself from laughing. It was a bit of a habit for Pansy to speak where she wasn't invited. Aurelia sighed. "Pansy, we were still talking," she said calmly, with underlying hints of annoyance. Aurelia felt more like ripping her hair out. Where did this girl appear from? Why did she talk when no one asked her to? "Uh, yeah, that's what I'm also talking about- we are talking about Astrid, right?" Pansy replied at once, undeterred and confused. Aurelia closed her eyes for half a second, drawing in a slow breath through her nose. "Merlin, give me patience," she thought. When she opened them again, she forced a thin smile. “Yes, Pansy. Astrid. The Gryffindor. Try to keep up, honey,” Pansy scoffed. “Honestly, no need to be rude. I just meant-” “We know what you meant. You've been droning on and on about it,” Aurelia cut in smoothly, tossing her hair over her shoulder. Pansy grumbled one last time and went back to her plate, to which Daphne and Aurelia giggled behind their napkins. Aurelia dabbed at her lips and straightened in her seat, her irritation settling into something colder and more deliberate. Across the hall, Astrid laughed again, and Aurelia decided she already didn’t like the sound of it. ˗ˏˋ ♡ ˎˊ˗ go go dancer - lana del rey
