Matthew 2:9-11 NKJV --- "When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshipped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh." Indeed, Christmas is a great holiday, with the great times of fellowship, the giving of gifts, and the joy flowing through. But many people don't know (or forget) the real reason behind this holiday, which is when God stepped down to mankind through the birth of the Jesus Christ to bring hope, peace, and salvation through Him. How could there be Christmas without Christ? It's not wrong in itself to enjoy Christmas the way America does, but it's important to remember the very fact that Jesus took the humble form of a baby, in the humblest way He could've been born, in a stable with animals, and growing in the Lord, preaching the good news of the Gospel, and dying on the cross to save me and you from our sin, and rising from the dead, so that we could share eternity with Him if we turn away from our sin and accept Him as our Lord and Savior. Sure, everyone may have many reasons to rejoice in Christmas, but the most important reason everyone can rejoice in Christ is because we remember this amazing day. Sure, he may not have actually been born on the 25th of December, but either way, may we rejoice for this amazing day.
