You can choose to not fight the boss, but it's often reccommended to do so as whichever color gets the last hit in gets either a power boost, or an item. If an important event is going to happen next remix i may claim it, but i will also try to get it done in a fair timeframe, preferably short so that you don't have to wait too long.
