I entered for Fracture :3 there are 3 BACKSTORY Winter lived with her mother and her older sister, Spring, in a little cabin far in the woods. The nearest town was miles away, and in the winter they never left the woods. "Winter! Come look!" Spring called from the window. Winter bounded up to the window and peered outside. Snow was falling and gently landing on the trees and ground, creating a thin layer of white fluff that covered the dead leaves and dirt. It was the first snow of the year. "We should go outside!" Spring whispered into Winter's ear. The two bounded to the door. "Where are you two going?" Their mom called to them from the kitchen. "Outside to play in the snow!" Spring called from the doorway. "Alright, but stay of the ice!" She called as the two bounded out the door. The two played for hours, building snowmen and growing snowballs. Finally they collapsed in a heap of snow, tired from their escapades. Spring stared out at the ice covered lake, which was glimmering in the setting sun. "Hey Winter," Spring said in a hushed tone. "I dare you to walk out on the ice." Winter stared at Spring for a moment. "But Mama said not to." She whispered back. "Oh please, your not a chicken are you?" Spring sneered, standing up. "I guess I have a chicken for a sister," she said while slowly walking back to the cabin in the light of the setting sun. Winter stood up, "I'm not a chicken!" She said, walking towards the lake. Spring bounded after her. Winter paused at the edge of the lake, looking out as the sun dipped below the tree line. Then, shaking worry from her head, walked out onto the ice. She stopped in the middle, looking back at her sister. "Who's the chicken now?" She called. Just to show how brave she was, Winter jumped up and down. In her excitement she didn't hear the ice cracking, but Spring did. "WINTER!" She called, but it was to late. The ice cracked beneath Winters paws, and she tumbled into the icy abyss of the lake. Winter was found by a scientist, barely alive. He took her and healed her, bringing her back from the edge of death. He replaced her vital organs with artificial organs. He stitched her scars, but he couldn't fix her eye, which never stops crying. One day a terrible blizzard struck and destroyed the building where they resided. Winter managed to escape, but the scientist didn't. She wandered for days, and eventually found a cave to rest in. She awoke the next day to find a beast in the cave. They quickly became friends. And now Winter lives with the Beast in the cave, hoping one day to find her way home to her mother and sister.
