--------------------------- Out Of Order rules --------------------------- Good morning, {REDACTED}. If you are reading this note, then the security evaluation has already begun. This test exists to determine whether you are brave enough to work here. It is not a test of strength, intelligence, or experience. It is a test of how you respond when instructions conflict, when fear creeps in, and when turning back feels like the safer choice. You may feel watched. You may feel alone. Both feelings are expected. This building is part of the test. Before proceeding, you must follow the rules exactly as written. Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification. RULES (Read carefully. Not all rules are meant to be read.) 12. Read Rules 1 through 4 only. Do not read Rule 5. Do not acknowledge Rule 6. 1. Do not push on the door. The door is fragile. It will open when it decides to. Forcing it will be recorded as a failure soon. 2. Do not exit. There is no exit prepared for you yet. Any door marked EXIT is not intended for participants. If you believe you see a way out, look away and continue. 3. Do not fight X. You are not here to confront anything. Resistance causes escalation. If X appears, remain calm and do not engage. It loses interest when ignored. 4. Do not fail the test. Failure is permanent. Failure is remembered. Failure follows you outside. 5. Do not read this rule. If you are reading this line, you have already broken protocol. Return to Rule 1 and continue as if nothing happened. 6. ̷D̷o̷n̷’̷t̷ ̷f̷i̷g̷h̷t̷ ̷i̷t̷.̷ ̷J̷u̷s̷t̷ ̷l̷e̷t̷ ̷i̷t̷ ̷h̷a̷p̷p̷e̷n̷.̷ ̷I̷t̷ ̷e̷n̷d̷s̷ ̷f̷a̷s̷t̷e̷r̷ ̷t̷h̷a̷t̷ ̷w̷a̷y̷.̷ If the rules appear to contradict each other, they do not. If the rules appear to change, they have not changed. You are simply noticing them now. Remember: this is only a game. Fear will feel real anyway. Take a breath. Do not rush. When you believe you are ready, proceed to the next room. Welcome to the job. Press space to open/close the door
You: “Uh— okay. I think it’s recording. So… hi. This is probably dumb, but I just got hired at this job and I thought it might be a good idea to record my first day. Just in case. You know. It’s some kind of security position. They didn’t really explain much—just sent me an address and… a list of rules. Which is already weird, because who sends rules before you even meet anyone? I mean, they’re probably just being dramatic. One of them literally says not to push on the door because it’s fragile. I’m guessing it’s just old. …Okay, that was nothing. Building’s empty. At least I think it is. They also said not to leave once I’m inside until the test is done. Which—yeah, I know that sounds bad when I say it out loud. But it’s probably like an escape room thing. A game. There’s one rule I don’t really get. It just says ‘Don’t fight X.’ No explanation. I’m assuming X is, like… a system error? A mascot? I don’t know. Anyway, I’m standing in front of the door now. It’s not locked or anything. Right. Fragile door. Don’t push. See? Following the rules already. …That’s new. Okay. I’m going in now. If this video cuts out, I guess I failed the test.”
