20 Questions for Writers! (To Make You Think Hard) WARNING: Several of these questions will make you think. If, for any reason, you are not able to think hard, please do not attempt to answer them. You will only injure yourself. I disclaim all responsibility for these injuries. 1. Q: What got you interested in writing? A: Reading 2. Q: Did you always like writing? A: I don't know. I've liked it for as long as I can remember, but that's not saying much 3: Q: What is the story that has just been sitting around in your brain, waiting to come to life? Is it just a vague idea that catches your heart, or is it already an elaborate story? A: I like to write a lot of stories where the characters from one book come into the world of another book and meet the characters there. Or I take an existing story and add a twist. So, most of these stories I don't write out in full because there's no chance of them becoming fully fledged books. 4. Q: What makes a story catch your heart? A: Exciting plot twists and lots of battles 5. Q: Do you think that there's a pattern that all good stories follow, or are they all different? A: Very different 6. Q: Did you ever cry over your own writing? Laugh over it? Shiver over it? A: I despise most chapters I write and rack my brains for ways to make them moderately okay. 7. Q: What do you despise in stories? A: People being idiots. It makes me mentally scream. 8. Q: What makes a story bad (in your opinion)? A: A basic plot with no twists and characters that are never beaten 9. Q: Which is more important in a story: emotional depth, or an interesting plot? A: PLOT 10. Q: Is there a specific thing your stories tend to center around? (Ex: setting, personality of character, genre, ect.) A: Dragons or fantasy or both 11. Q: Do you plan to become an author someday? A: Yes 12. Q: If so, how do you think authors can influence the world for good by their writing? A: By showing people what an ideal world would look like and how to achieve that through a story 13. Q: What are your favorite themes (morals or messages) in stories? A: Acceptance 14. Q: What are the cliches you hate the most? A: What's a cliche? 15. Q: Is there a way to make those cliches not so bad? Do you think you could do it if you set out to try? A: I still don't know what a cliche is 16. Q: What is the genre you hate the most? A: Anything without magic 17. Q: What if you tried to write it? What would happen? A: Absolute and utter chaos in writing. It would be the worst thing ever written 18. Q: What makes a character lovable? A: Wit 19. Q: Is it possible for a non-lovable character to make you care deeply about them? A: I don't know, it depends on your definition of unlovable. 20.
