It’s already 2026?!?! (Well, I’m posting this on New Year’s Eve, but still) I remember, all the way back in 2020, thinking about how far away 2026 was. Now, we’re finally here. It feels like so much yet so little time has passed since the pandemic, and now we’re already closer to 2030 than we are to 2020. I’m not going to lie, this year was probably one of the worst years of my life. My house flooded back in August and I’m not going to return until March at the earliest. We had to deal with many terrifying health scares from all over the family. I thought I was going to lose my mom and my grandpa, a twisted “cherry on top” to the miserable last few months of 2025. The state of the world in 2025 was just… bad. AI taking over everything, not being able to tell what’s real or fake. News story after news story of more horrible things to the point where I just felt numb. My mental health was also declining with all the stress of school and my personal life, so unfortunately I was unable to make good on my 2025 New Year’s resolution to post more. Despite all of these things, I did have many moments of joy in 2025. I fell in love with a new book series, rediscovered my love for Minecraft, learned new crafts, and had fun with my friends, brief moments where I could forget how bad it was out in the world. I’ll remember this year fondly, though it feels bittersweet. I hope that 2026 is a much better year for all of us. Happy New Year!! :D ~ Jay
Art by me :D I’ll try to post more in 2026 (but I won’t promise because that jinxed me this year…)
