I was bored and so wanted to create something art for @95_Theses_Enjoyer. Jumalan terve, @95_Theses_Enjoyer! I’m trying to get better at art, so I’m not sure if it’s that good.
Credit To: @95_Theses_Enjoyer for the original character (Note: In the background is Karesuando Church. Laestadius served as the vicar of Karesuando from 1826 to 1849. During this time, he preached to a congregation primarily composed of Sámi nomads and Finnish settlers. In 1844, after a spiritual encounter with a Sami woman named Milla Clemensdotter (Lapp Mary), Laestadius began preaching a form of Lutheranism that emphasised repentance, teetotaling, and confession.) (Another Note: I dressed Carle up in traditional Sámi clothing. Laestadius was a southern Sámi who spoke many languages. On the design I included the Swedish, Finnish, and Southern Sámi words for “ninety-five,” as he spoke these three the most.) A fun fact about Laestadius is that he was an internationally recognised botanist who was awarded the Medal of Honour of the French Legion of Honour (Légion d'honneur) in 1841 for his work as a field guide and botanist during the La Recherche Expedition. He was the first Scandinavian to get this award. Siunattu olkoon hänen muistonsa.
