CONTAINS A LOT OF SPOILERS FOR THE FINALE OF STRANGER THINGS 5 YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED Okay guys I have a bazillion mixed feelings about that episode- The battle was really fast and felt… random? Like someone died but jk we actually dont know? I didn’t feel like the final battle had any stakes because of that And the fact that we were freaking queerbaited. I figured this would happen but it doesn’t change the fact that I had been hoping AND IT HURT SO FREAKING MUCH! Like why was the only queer relationship in that show first scene when they were together a scene where they’re acting like Mileven in s3 and talking about spiciness Mike was actually wills Tammy and that makes me so mad Also Mileven acted so platonic the entire season until the end ans I knew it was gonna happen when Mike was in the void I could tell I love byler but at this point it isn’t even the fact that they werent a thing in season 5. To me it’s that We don’t have enough queer representation in mainstream shows. If we do It’s always shows just about the queer love story to target a certain audience and it pmo so much. Stranger things couldve changed that for the better and they swiped it away just like that. I thought that the duffer brothers really were going to make byler a plot twist because this show was made for the outcasts, the nerds, and those who’d been bullied. I guess they couldnt do that It hurt not just because we don’t have enough representation, or that byler isnt cannon, it hurt because I am a queer person who has put themselves out there multiple times and every time it ends in rejection. Every single time. When you like someone of the same gender youre already at a disadvantage most likely because most people are straight. Having a show that felt like it couldve made one feel like it’s not going to always end in rejection or tragedy but then take it away and have the couple that in my opinion were toxic be the cannon ship? It doesn’t make me feel very good. The whole thing feels homophobic
