MENTIONS OF DE@TH My legs ached as I raced up the mountainside. Panting for breath, I dug into my stachel, pulling out the amethyst and clutching it in my hand. The wolf... I groaned from the pain in my feet. How long have I been running? Gulping down the last of my water, I stood and scaled up the mountain. My legs trembled as I finally reached the top. Water... food... warmth... wolf... The words spun through my mind until I collapsed into the snow. Have to stay... awake.... My eyes fluttered closed. "Good night, Shadow...." <><><><><><><><><><><><><> I awoke to the sound of boots crunching in the snow. My head shot up. A boy waded through the frost and up to the mouth of one of the caves. I instantly recognized his face. "Shadow!?" I gasped and stood despite my pain. "Silver?" Shadow narrowed his eyes. "What are you doing here?" "I was going to ask you the same question!" I put my hands on my hips. "The wolf is in danger! I have to find him... I think Garnet somehow brought him here!" Shadow's expression softens as he steps forward. "Silver," he cups my chin. "The wolf is gone." <><><><><><><><><><><><><> I sway, my body trembling violently. Shadow catches me before I fall. "Hey," he takes my shoulder. "I've got you." "N-no," I whisper. Tears form on the rims of my eyes. "How is he gone?" Shadow sighs, bowing his head. "Silver. I have to tell you something." He leads me to an ice-covered boulder and gestures for me to sit. As I do, he fiddles with his fingers and looks into my eyes. "Do you still have the amethyst?" he asks. "Yes," I hand him the necklace. "This isn't your normal gem," he runs a finger over it. "It's an ancient relic used between the wolves who passed and live in the Realm of Stars. When needed, you can teleport there and receive help. Do you know how I know this?" I shake my head. "Silver... Garnet and the wolf are my brothers." My breath hitches as I lean forward. "Like the wolf probably told you, Garnet wanted total control. I didn't want to fight. I stepped back, knowing that my pack was in grave danger from Garnet. When he captured me and locked me in the Therian Highway, well... not only did he want to separate me from you... Silver... he wanted to drain all my power. Then, when he would be done, just toss me away... like... the wolf." "But how could he k@ll the wolf? I mean, he's already de," I tilt my head. "Silver, Garnet didn't just suck in his power; he literally wiped him out of existence... and... he's coming for us next."
