➽ Chapter 1 ★ Juniper POV TW - Minor swearing (Cr@p) and mentions of alterhuman h@ters "Finally!" I exclaim, sprinting outside of school with my best friend, Tess, at my side. "Spring break is here! Nine whole days of freedom!" "Forest?" Tess asks with a grin, gesturing to the gigantic, beautiful forest beside our middle school. "Forest." I reply, smiling back. I am a silver fox therian, and Tess is a Bernese Mountain Dog therian, so we both feel at home there. A few kids snicker at our clipped-on faux fur tails, but we ignore them as we break apart from the others and bound into the woods. As usual, the forest is gorgeous, golden sunlight dappling the ground. We sit our backpacks down on a nearby log. After unzipping it, we pull out our masks and put them on. "So, whatcha wanna do?" I ask with a smile, bounding onto some rocks and feeling the sun warm my back. "I dunno," Tess replies with a shrug, trotting over to me. "I guess just hang out." She flops onto a rock, her black hair hiding most of her face. "I'm tiiiiiiiiiiiiiired," she yawns. "You're so lazy," I smirk with a grin. "School's tiring," Tess protests with a huff, blowing a strand of her hair like a puff of wind. "I guess it is," I agree. "Especially the h@ters...Good thing we get a break from them." Tess nods. "Agreed." "Oh, wait!" I exclaim, a memory jolting into my head suddenly as my thoughts started to drift away. "Cr@p, I told my mom I'd get home by 4:05!" I look down at my watch, which read 3:55 - I only have 10 minutes to get home! Tess laughs, but she pats my shoulder in sympathy. "Don't worry, Juniper, I should probably get home soon too! We can walk home together." Tess - what a pal! "Can we hang out here tomorrow?" I yip. "I'm free after breakfast." "Yeah, sure!" Tess replies with a grin. "I'm going to the beach on Wednesday, but Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday I'm free pretty much all the time." "Oh, that's great," I grin. We swing our backpacks over our shoulders, and wave our goodbyes to the forest before heading home. We chatted along the way before splitting paths as the road turned to the right. "Well, bye, Tess, see you tomorrow," I wave before turning to the right. "Bye!" Tess calls, continuing along the road. No matter how many times I walk into the forest... I'm still stuck in this human body. A species of greed, slowly taking the natural world. Sigh... ★ End of Chapter 1 ★ First: ur here bro Previous: I ate it nom nom nom Next:
