Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is an upcoming life simulation game for the Nintendo Switch set to release in Spring 2026. It is the third game in the Tomodachi Life series, and serves as the successor to Tomodachi Life released in 2013. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream was revealed as the final announcement in the March 27, 2025 Nintendo Direct. The reveal trailer showcased Miis interacting with each other and the environment, with the game taking place on a tropical island. Some Miis speak using a synthesized voice and a Mii based on Anne is shown in a dream sequence with Alice. On September 12, 2025, the game was detailed in another Nintendo Direct presentation, showcasing the new in-game Mii Maker, how to form relationships between Miis, and more unique dream sequences. At the end of the segment, a breaking news broadcast from Mii News revealed the game is set to release in Spring 2026. The game is confirmed to feature an in-game Mii Maker with new options. These options include a "Sub color" for hair, editing the bangs and back of hair separately, and customization for ears, an option that has never been included in any previous Mii Maker. Additionally, two options for facial details and makeup can be seen in the Mii Maker menu, but remain undocumented. The Mii Apartments building has been replaced in favor of multiple homes for individual Miis. Miis can be interacted with in their homes in various ways, including solving problems, feeding them and raising their happiness level. New to the series is the implementation of player-controlled actions to cause interactions between Miis. The player can use a hand cursor to manually move around the island and perform certain actions, such as picking up and dropping Miis with the a button. This allows the player to control which Miis become friends or develop a relationship, instead of it being determined randomly by the Mii itself. Dreams also appear to return from the series.
